Level 80 Gold Farming Guide


Introduction

This is a Gold farming guide for the Northend Zone, we will continue to update this page in the future if any good farming spot arrive.

To maximize your gold earning per/hour you will need to select an area that best suit your Gathering profession. If you don't have any gathering professions then you should be farming area that doesn't require any gathering profession.

So a quick summary of the chart below for

Gathering Profession

Now is the best time ever to make money with your Gathering Profession, because everyone is busy leveling up their profession up to level 450 and rich players have plenty of money to spend and they couldn't care less on how much they pay as long as they level their profession fast.

If you have either Mining or Herbalism and a fast 280%+ speed Flying mount you should focus 100% on traveling and collection materials to be sold in the Auction House. Make sure you install the latest Addon for gathering profession to display all the possible Node for Mines and Herbs.

If you only have a fast 100% speed land mount you can still profit a lot with either Mining or Herbalism in Wintergrasp PVP area.

Avoid

Avoid farming NPCs that are 'skinnable' with a gathering profession that you don't have

eg. If you're not a Skinner you shouldn't be farming Crystalweb Weaver for Iceweb Spider Silk because this NPC is skinnable, it will have a lower drop rate for Grey Vendor Trash items, and you're not earning extra gold from skinning.

Where a Humanoid which can't be skinned will have a HIGHER rate of Grey Vendor Trash which will give you a lot more gold.

A new thing in WOTLK now is that most Earth Elementals are 'skinnable' via Mining and also some NPC such as Mossy Rampager are 'skinnable' via Herbalism. These NPCs will also have a lower drop rate of Grey Vendor Trash so don't farm them unless you have the correct profession.

 

Remember

That the best place to farm is always where it has the LEAST amount of competition, you want to be able to kill NPCs NON-STOP, so if your favourite place is over populated move on and try the next best spot.

Empty your bags, you will need plenty of space.

 

Zone: Ice Crown

1 - NPCs to kill: Umbral Brute , Skeletal Runesmith

This location have a very high concentration of NPCs and it also have a very fast spawn rate and easy to kill, you can literaly kill non stop, and collect a ton of Frostweave Cloth in a short time.

2 - NPC to kill: Cult Alchemist , Damned Apothecary

Not recommended for melee classes as the NPC throws Poison gas damage which ignore's armor.

PVP Zone: Wintergrasp

If you're feeling adventurous, this is a very profitable and ideal zone to be in at all times. Some key points that you need to be aware of.

Wintergrasp have the highest concentration of NPC to farm

Crystallized Shadow - Found in Area 1

Crystallized Fire - Found in Area 2

Crystallized Air - Found in Area 3

Crystallized Water and Crystallized Earth can be found every where else around the map, Water Elementals are usually under water.

The Revenants

When your Faction have control over the area you will be able to see the Revenants NPCs,

Water Revenant , Flame Revenant , Earthbound Revenant , Shadow Revenant , Tempest Revenant

They can be found around the same place as the other elementals ie Flame Revenant can be found in area 2

These revenants have 100% chance to drop 1-3 Crytallized Materials, but you will only be able to see them when your faction have control of the map. So these are one of the most profitable NPC you can find.

But its a PVP zone! I can't farm peacefully

Don't worry, if you die you will be resurrected at the graveyard automatically just like in Battlegrounds, so there's no need to do any corpse running.

How to get Honor at the same time

A battle for control will occur every 2h30m and during this time you need to gain at least 1 rank to gain honor once the battle end. To do this you can either kill an alliance, easiest way to do this is to ask to be invited into the raid, usually someone will form a raid for everybody.

Or you can just kill a couple of NPC that is fighting your guard by the bridge area.
