About the very first thing Dugi says in his guide (on page one, as it was pointed out to me) is that the first thing to do is reach Level 80. That is where the money is. So anyhow, as I have been leveling up, I've been noticing that the quality and the value of both the drops and the quest rewards has improved greatly.

Yesterday at Level 69, I was questing in the Blade's Edge Mountains for a couple of hours. Without making any special effort I brought in over 35 gold in drops, vendor stuff, and quest rewards of cash and Bind on Pickup materials. That doesn't even count all the stuff I sent to the Auction House to turn into gold.

Dugi was right: leveling up is the first big step in making gold.
