Dugi Guides Addon Changes

The new WoW 6.0 comes with a lot of changes with the API and here a few important thing that you need to know.

  • The Gear Advisor is temporarily disabled until it is fully updated for the new stats systems.
  • The Objective Tracker currently bugged after zoning into a Dungeon.  It is best to disable the addon when you’re in a dungeon.
  • The Objective Tracker (Watch Frame) is no longer moveable. Blizzard made a lot of changes to the Objectives Tracking system and moving it can create errors, we will continue to look for a solution with the live version of WoW.
  • If you wish to move Dugi Guides go to Settings > Display > and un tick ‘Anchored Frame’ mode to switch to Floating Frame and this will allow you to move Dugi Guides Small Frame anywhere on your screen.

Please bear with us as we tackle these issue, they are our top priority. click here for the full list of changes.

Enjoy Patch 6.0!

How to Choose Garrison Outpost for Levelinghttp://www.ultimatewowguide.com/blog/how-to-choose-garrison-outpost-for-leveling/7813/ http://www.ultimatewowguide.com/blog/how-to-choose-garrison-outpost-for-leveling/7813/#comments Fri, 26 Sep 2014 02:13:56 +0000 http://www.ultimatewowguide.com/?p=7813 A major feature in the WoD expansion is the Garrison. In the expansion, you will get a Garrison Hub that you build in the level 90 zone which also serve as your faction hub in Draenor. Then you will also get Garrison Outposts for the other four zones.

Garrison Outpost do not work like your Garrison Hub. You can’t create and level up additional buildings. Instead you get a special zone wide perk and different quest chains which also reward different followers.

Garrison Outpost can be found in Gorgond (92 – 94) , Talador (94 – 96), Spires of Arak (96 – 98) and Nagrand (98 – 100).

You will be given the option to select the type of Garrison Outpost after several zone introductory quests like the example below.

Depending on your choice you will get a special zone wide ability. The ability will only work with each specific zone ie. Gorgond Garrison ability will only work in Gorgond zone.

Your choice is actually very important if you want it to help you with leveling and I though I would share my opinion on which option is best when you venture into Draenor for the first time.

Lets compare the abilities and choose a winner for each zone…

Gorgond (92 – 94)

You get the choice to build either Logging Camp / Lumber Yard vs Sparring Ring / Savage Fight Club  outpost.

Logging Camp / Lumber Yard

The Logging Camp / Lumber Yard provide you with a vehicle to use the   Summon Mechashredder 5000, which give you three special abilities…

Abilities: Launch Sawblades, Flame Thrower, Rocket Boost

Sparring Ring / Savage Fight Club

This outpost will give the ability Champion’s Honor which summons a random champion to fight with you for 1 min then give you a 5 mins buff which could last longer depending on the number of enemies you kill with the champion present.

Logging Camp / Lumber Yard is the winner for leveling because the Summon Mechashredder 5000 will allow you to tank and deal very high damage which is great for taking down Rare Elites or clearing packs of NPCs.  The best part is that you also get Rocket Boost which will allow you to fly for short duration. You can use it to go over mountains or unreachable areas since you can’t fly at all in Draenor.

Arena’s Champion’s Honor in my opinion is inferior because the champion summon doesn’t seem to deal as much damage as the Shredder. I’m sure in the release both perks will be balanced in terms of damage but I would still choose Lumber Yard to get the Rocket Boost from the Shredder.

Talador (94 – 96)

You get the choice to build either Wrynn Artillery Tower vs Arcane Sanctum outpost.

Wrynn Artillery Tower

The zone-wide Talador perk is Artillery Strike: The Armory will fire 3 volleys over 3 sec.  Each volley deals 64000 to 96000 damage to all affected enemies and stuns them for 3 sec.  Max 3 charges.

Arcane Sanctum

Your Arcane Sanctum perk is Guardian Orb: Summons a Guardian Orb at your location that electrocutes enemies within 15 yards for 9600 to 14400 damage every 2 sec for 30 sec.

Both outposts provide similar type of abilities and both very powerful but I would pick Wrynn Artillery Tower because Artillery Strike comes with 3 charges.  This good because this allow you to use 1 charge so you can use it more frequently or use all 3 charges at the same time for a ton of burst damage.

Spires of Arak (96 – 98)

You get the choice to build either Stoktron Brewery / Hearthfire Tavern vs Smuggler’s Den outpost.

Stoktron Brewery / Hearthfire Tavern

Choosing the Inn-themed perk rewards you with a Brewery. This rewards you with Home Away from Home, a teleport to your Inn in Spires and 20% boosted XP in Spires.

Smuggler’s Den

Once every 10 minutes, a vendor can be summoned who has a chance to sell a variety of interesting wares Smuggling Run!

Stoktron Brewery / Hearthfire Tavern  Home Away from Home does seems like an obvious choice for the 20% more XP for the zone but the passive XP buff becomes useless once you reach level 100. Blizzard will likely add new quest or objectives for each zone as there are some areas in the each zones with level 100 npcs so it’s likely that you will continue to use the Perks after you reach level 100.

Smuggling Run item provide with a vendor that can sell you unique food buff such as Ogreblood Potion and  Ravenlord’s Talon which will help you quest faster. You can also purchase an extra follower available only from Smuggling Run vendor and 28 slot   Gronnskin Bag.

For the long term I would choose Smuggler’s Den but alternatively you can choose the Inn for Home Away from Home until you reach level 100 then you can switch the outpost to Smuggler’s Den for 10,000g. But I probably rather keep the gold and just stick with Smuggler’s Den.

Nagrand (98 – 100)

You get the choice to build either Rangari Corral  vs Telarri Tankworks outpost.

Rangari Corral

Summon a Telaari Talbuk or Frostwolf War Wolf. This is mount allows you to use all your abilities while mounted. You can also loot while mounted as well so it pretty much a zone wide 100% speed buff.

Telarri Tankworks

You can summon a Telaari Siege Engine or Wor’var Demolisher with the following abilities:
Launch Rocket/ Hurl Boulder, Flame Vents, High Gear, Rain of Death

While the tank provide a ton of damage, Rangari Corral for the mounted combat is the better choice. Mounted combat is a unique experience and extremely fun while at the same time I think you will level much faster with it as well since you never have to get off your mount (except indoor areas).

The tank is also on a 10 mins cooldown while the mount has no cooldown at all.

On a PVP server I think choosing the mount is mandatory or else you will get dominated by other players with the mount. The tank provide lots of damage but you will never be able to catch PVP players with the mount.

Well I hope you find this post helpful and help you make the right choice when you level for the first time in Draenor.

Celebrated by both the Horde and the Alliance, Brewfest is a time to enjoy the fermented fruits of the harvest: pretzels, cheese, and booze! The competing breweries Thunderbrew, Barleybrew, and the Ogres, all come together outside of all the major cities in a bid to outdo each other with their special ales, meads, and beers. Brave adventurers are invited to sit back, take a pull, and sample the finest wares these brewers have to offer!

During Brewfest, players can acquire the title Brewmaster, collect fun mounts like Swift Brewfest Ram, Great Brewfest Kodo and get epics like Coren’s Chilled Chromium Coaster. Major quest hubs are located outside of Ironforge and Orgrimmar.

Bonus Objectives in Draenor (Are they worth doing?)http://www.ultimatewowguide.com/blog/bonus-objectives-in-draenor-are-they-worth-doing/7789/ http://www.ultimatewowguide.com/blog/bonus-objectives-in-draenor-are-they-worth-doing/7789/#comments Wed, 17 Sep 2014 23:46:39 +0000 http://www.ultimatewowguide.com/?p=7789 Hi everyone, this is  quick post to talk about the new Bonus Objective quest which appears in the new level 90 – 100 zones (Dreanor).
Bonus Objectives icons will show up on your map like this….

and these quest will automatically appear in your objective tracker when your character is within the area.

Bonus Objectives are not required for you to complete to progress the zone but I do recommend doing them because…

  • You can complete them a long side of regular quests.
  • Bonus Objectives typically worth 3 – 5 times more XP and Gold than your regular quests.
  • You can get an achievement for completing all the Bonus Objectives in the zone and all of Draenor.

The extra XP definitely makes them worth doing but it does come with some draw backs…

  • It can be a bit “grindy” and will take you a bit longer to complete than your reqular quests.
  • Some of them is hard to reach (without flying mount), difficult to complete and not worth your time.

But if you’re good at rounding up the npcs and kill them quickly then you will receive big XP bonus for leveling without slowing you down much.

Going out your way to complete the Bonus Objectives early will often be a mistake because you should complete them at the right time with regular quests.

We got you covered with this because in our new Warlords of Dreanor90 – 100 leveling guide update, there will be steps that will recommend the best time complete the Bonus Objectives because it is best when you’re in the area and also able to complete multiple quests at the same time

We are on track with our Warlords of Dreanor leveling guides updates and it will be available the moment the expansion goes live.

Best Race & Class Combo for Leveling in Warlords of Draenorhttp://www.ultimatewowguide.com/blog/best-race-class-combo-for-warlords-of-draenor-leveling/7761/ http://www.ultimatewowguide.com/blog/best-race-class-combo-for-warlords-of-draenor-leveling/7761/#comments Thu, 04 Sep 2014 22:53:31 +0000 http://www.ultimatewowguide.com/?p=7761 I often get this question from new users that have just started and want to get a max level character as soon as possible.

What is the best / fastest / easiest Race & Class combo in for Leveling in World of Warcraft?

After years of playing and leveling dozen of characters and creating leveling guides, my answer will always be…

Night Elf, Hunter

The Night Elf racial ability provide the most important abilites…

Quickness provides 2% chance to dodge and 2% faster movement speed both extremely helpful and Night Elf is the only race with a movement speed bonus which will help a lot for leveling. In the latest expansion you can stack movement speed bonus from gears and enchants.

Shadowmeld. This is perhaps the best leveling ability because of a couple of reasons:

  1. It will instantly remove you from combat.
Don’t you hate it when you complete your quest and you just want to mount up and turn in your quest but you keep drawing agro from creatures in the area keeping you in combat until you kill them.  With Shadowmeld you can simply use it and it will instantly remove you from combat, mount up and be on your way.
  2. You can AFK safely anywhere in the game without logging out.
Don’t you hate going AFK for a moment only to come to a dead character because you got killed by a creature or worse, other players. With Shadowmeld creatures and players won’t be able to find you (hopefully) when you’re AFK.

If you die often. A Night Elf will become a Wisp Spirit  which is extremely handy because you can run back to your corpse 75% faster. I found this surprisingly useful while leveling 90-100 in Warlords of Dreanor beta because leveling with the boosted level 90 gear is actually pretty hard to solo due to deadly creatures and group quests. I really think Blizzard intentionally made leveling more challenging for this expansion.

ClassIcon_HunterHunter is the class of choice for leveling because it is very easy for new players to pick up. It is also easy to stay alive as a hunter because you’re able to attack from a distance and you have a pet that can tank for you which will allow you easily solo elites / rares and complete group quests on your own.

Feign Death is also great ability to avoid deaths, removing yourself from combat and it’s on a short cooldown.

A Warlock can also play similarly to a hunter because of their range attack and pet. But Warlocks are much more complicated to play and as a cloth armor class they are soft and can die quickly depending on the talent spec you choose.

See this screenshot that even Blizzard agree Hunters are good for Leveling and Soloing :)

That’s it! hope you enjoyed this newsletter and have safe travels in Azeroth

Warlords of Draenor Leveling Tiphttp://www.ultimatewowguide.com/blog/warlords-of-draenor-leveling-tip/7716/ http://www.ultimatewowguide.com/blog/warlords-of-draenor-leveling-tip/7716/#comments Thu, 07 Aug 2014 04:52:04 +0000 http://www.ultimatewowguide.com/?p=7716 If I had to give you one tip in for leveling in the new Dreanor 90 – 100 zones then this is it.

Before the expansion comes make sure you get yourself a Water Strider mount. This is a mount that you can purchase in Pandaria from The Anglers faction.

What’s special about the Water Strider mount is that it can walk on water which is fantastic especially if you’re not a Shaman (they can use Water Walking) or a Death Knight (Path of Frost)

In Warlords of Draenor you won’t be able to fly with your flying mounts and to make things worse Draenor zones have lots of…

& Lakes

Many of the water areas in Draenor are deep and will slow you down when you’re forced to swim across frequently.

But I can easily move across using the Water Strider mount which really boosted my leveling times in the beta because

You will need to earn exalted reputation with The Anglers before you can purchase the Water Strider mount.

You can find the complete in-game Anglers guide in the Pandaria dailies section of our guides.

If you don’t have our complete Pandaria guides you can now get the complete set of Dugi In-Game guides for as low as $6.99 / month.

Top 10 Quick Tips When Using Dugi Guideshttp://www.ultimatewowguide.com/blog/top-10-quick-tips-when-using-dugi-guides/7683/ http://www.ultimatewowguide.com/blog/top-10-quick-tips-when-using-dugi-guides/7683/#comments Thu, 31 Jul 2014 09:13:16 +0000 http://www.ultimatewowguide.com/?p=7683 While Dugi Addon is very easy to use there are still some features that our users often missed or don’t understand exactly how they work.

This post is our top 10 most asked questions that we noticed the past few weeks and I have also included some additional tips for hidden DG features that you might not be aware about.

I hope these quick tips will help you enjoy our guides even more :)

Top 10 Quick Tips

1. It’s important that to know that Dugi Guides comes in 3 different modes and you can switch it left clicking on the DG icon.

Gold Mode:  This is the mode offers both the in-game guides and addon features. Make sure the DG icon is gold when you want to use the in-game guides.

Silver Mode: This mode will allow you to unload the guides (saving memory) and still allow you to use some of DG’s best features such as the Waypoint & Taxi systems, Gear Advisors, Auto quest accept and more.

Copper Mode: This will turn off DG completely without unloading it from your addons selection. eg This is handy if you need to switch it off while doing PVP then you can turn it back on when you need it without logging out.

Note: A Silver Mode only version is available from Curse.com. Set Dugi addon on ignore on your Curse.com addon installer if you use it or else it will install the the Silver Mode only version and only use Dugi installer to update the addon.

2. You can  Show or Hide the Model Viewer by clicking on the yellow button on the top right corner of the Small Frame.

If you want to remove the Model Viewer permanently you can do so by going to the Settings > Memory and untick ‘Model Viewer Database’.  This will unload all the data for the Model Viewer and the addon will also run with less memory.

3. The Target Button will always match with the NPCs displayed in the model viewer.

If multiple NPCs exist in the Model Viewer you can choose which NPC you want to display and target using the arrow buttons in the Model Viewer.

4. You can Keybind the Target Button and Item Button by going to the WoW Game Menu > Keybinding and scroll all the way down to the bottom and you will find the keybinding options for Dugi Guides.

5. The Green or Yellow arrows that appears in your quest reward select comes from our Gear Advisor feature.

Green arrow is your best upgrade option usually for your active talent spec.

Yellow arrow is your ‘runners up’ upgrade option usually for your second inactive talent spec.

The coin on the top right corner of the quest rewards indicate the highest vendor value if you just intend to sell the item.

6. The upgrade arrows from gear advisor will also appear in your Dungeon Journal.

Very handy to help you decide which dungeon to enter for the best upgrades.

7. You can disable the Gear Advisor feature easily by going to DG Settings > Gear Set and untick all the options and set Smart Set to ‘None’.

8. Something you might find handy is that you can left click on the small frame and it will open Blizzard’s Quest Details for the quest if its available.

Mouse hovering over the step icon will also display the Blizzard’s quest tooltip.

9. You may have noticed the waypoint arrow will sometime turn green for no apparent reason. This is to indicate that you are now inside the questing area for the current step.

10. You can also create your own waypoints directly on the World Map by holding the CTRL button and Right Click on the world map. The addon will automatically create the fastest route to get to your final destinations.

You can also link additional waypoints by holding the Shift button and Right Clicking on the world map.

If you’re familiar with the TomTom addon, the /way commands will also work with DG eg “/way Nagrand 45 50″  will add a new waypoint in Nagrand at 45, 50

And one more bonus tip… A hidden feature with DG that our users often don’t know about is the Find Nearest NPCs feature.

You can find this feature by clicking WoW’s Minimap tracking button and select ‘Find Nearest’

This is handy when you trying locate your local vendors and trainers.

That’s it! if you have any questions about the addon and it’s features don’t hesitate to ask me in the comment section below.

What’s New With Dugi Guides?http://www.ultimatewowguide.com/blog/whats-new-with-dugi-guides/7644/ http://www.ultimatewowguide.com/blog/whats-new-with-dugi-guides/7644/#comments Mon, 21 Jul 2014 03:47:28 +0000 http://www.ultimatewowguide.com/?p=7644 If you have updated your guides recently, you might have already noticed the major changes that took place with Dugi Guides.

Our latest update have dramatically improved the the formatting of our guides.

Click here to Download latest Version of Dugi Guides

Check out these before and after screen shot examples..

Example 1: All item name now includes a matching icon and correct item rarity color. And NPC names are also in a different colour.

But the biggest advantage of this new format is the automatic translations for non-english players.

Example 2:
All item, npc, zones, spells, currency names in the description and title will now be automatically translated. Whereas before only the quest names were translated, the above example shows the automatic translation in German.

We also reworked the profession guides to provide you with a better shopping list.

Example 3: The shopping list in the profession guides are now listed nicely with bullet points instead of listed in one line as before. Again the biggest advantage of this is that the item names will be automatically translated again.

With all these changes you will find our guides even easier to follow than ever before giving you the most powerful tool for leveling for progressing your characters in World of Warcraft.

I hope you enjoy our recent updates and as always more updates to come.

Yours Truly
