You can buy all the ores from the Auction House and Smelt most of your way from 1 -350, you can resell the Bars at the Auction House after you smelt them.

Learn Mining Journeyman

Zone: Northern Stranglethorn

Mine: Tin Vein 65+ and Silver Vein 75+

Learn Mining Expert

Zone: The Cape of Stranglethorn

Mine: Iron Deposit 125 + and Gold Vein 155+

175 – 200

Zone: Felwood

Mine: Mithril Deposit 175+ and Truesilver Deposit 205+

Train Mining Artisan

Zone: Winterspring

Mine: Small Thorium Vein 235+ and Rich Thorium Vein 255+

275 – 325

Go to Outland and train Mining Master

Zone: Hellfire Peninsula

Mine: Fel Iron Deposit

325 – 350

Zone: Nagrand

Mine: Adamantite Deposit

350 – 400

Go to Northrend and train Grand Master Mining

Zone: Zul’Drak

Mine: Cobalt Node 350+ and Rich Cobalt Node 375+

Zone: Sholazer Basin

Mine: Saronite Node

Visit any trainer in the main cities of old Azeroth and train Illustrious Grand Master Mining

Zone: Vashj’ir

Mine: Obsidium Deposit 425+ and Rich Obsidium Deposit 450+

There are two good areas to mine in Vashj’ir, Kelp’thar Forest and Shimmering Expanse

475 – 525

Zone: Twilight Highlands

Mine: Elementium Vein 475+ and Rich Elementium Vein 500+

   it says smelt copper from 45-65 but copper turns gray at 60.
