The Fishing profession is unique in that it is the only profession that does not require you to move to a higher level fishing area to skill up. The quickest way to level fishing is to just sit at the starting area and fish till your 375, however there are a number of fish that are highly sought after as well as a number of fish that when combined with cooking could level cooking to 375 along with fishing. Below is the base fishing skill required to be able to fish in an area – if you would like to see the list of fish required to build cooking check out the cooking section here.

The general rule of thumb is that outside of the 1 base skill zones you need approx. 100 skill above the base skill to prevent fish from getting away – this can be solved by using a combination of items and lures to reach +100 fishing skill after you meet the base requirement.

Artisan Fishing Quest

When you reach 225 fishing skill you need to head over to Dustwallow Marsh and talk with Nat Pagle to get the quest Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme. The cordinates for the 4 fish are as follows:

Feralas Ahi: (62,5) in Feralas
Misty Reed Mahi Mahi: (90,72) in Swamp of Sorrows
Sar’theris Striker: (25,77) in Desolace
Savage Coast Blue Sailfin: (33,32) in Stranglethorn Vale

Training Master Fishing

There is no Master Fishing trainer – instead you need to purchase Master Fishing – The Art of Angling from Juno Dufrain at (78,66) in Zangarmarsh just southwest of the Cenarion Refuge.
