Hallow's End is a Halloween-style event that takes place at the mid-end of October. Observed by both the Horde and the Alliance, Hallow's End is the celebration of the break between the Forsaken and the Scourge. Many tricks and treats await adventurers seeking holiday fun, including defeating the Headless Horseman, visiting inns and cities for fun items such as masks and costumes, and eating way too much candy in one sitting. Read below for more things to do during spooky season on Azeroth!
[Hallowed Wand] - Hallowed Wands are given out during the Hallow's End festival in Azeroth. They are sometimes found in a [Treat Bag] which are given out by innkeepers in various inns throughout the land.
These wands typically have 5 charges and allow you to take the form of another creature or humanoid of Azeroth for an hour.
[Treat Bag] - Once per hour, you can talk to an innkeeper and select the dialog option, Trick or Treat!. The innkeeper will either give you a Treat Bag or a Trick, temporarily polymorphing your character. The Treat Bag should be opened and looted once you get it, as it will disappear if you log out of the game.
After you speak to an innkeeper for a Treat Bag, you will receive a 60 minute debuff which will prevent you from getting more Treat Bags until the debuff expires. You must make sure you have an empty bag slot for a treat bag since you will still get the debuff from the innkeeper regardless of whether the treat bag is able to fit into your bags or not.
[Flimsy Mask] - Flimsy Masks are temporary head items which can be worn by any player at any level. Flimsy masks are sometimes received inside a [Treat Bag] by an innkeeper in various towns while trick or treating. They are available during the Hallow's End seasonal event, and have a duration of 7 days once received.
[Sinister Squashling] - This is a rare drop from the Headless Horseman. The Horseman is found in the Graveyard wing of Scarlet Monastery during the Hallow's End seasonal event. There is also a decent chance (Read: 5-20%) of obtaining it from a [Treat Bag] or [Crudely Wrapped Gift] (The Crudely Wrapped Gift is obtained by doing defeating the Headless Horseman and smashing the pumpkin to start the appropriate daily quest).
[Hallowed Helm] - Hallowed Helm is a rare drop from Headless Horseman. The horseman is found in the graveyard wing of Scarlet Monastery during the Hallow's End seasonal event. The Hallowed Helm can also be acquired through a [Treat Bag], making it accessible to characters too low to enter the Scarlet Monastery Graveyard.
Headless Horseman
During Hallow's End, the Headless Horseman is a summoned elite boss spawned in the Pumpkin Shrine in the middle of the Forlorn Cloister in The Graveyard, an instanced wing of the Scarlet Monastery. Additionally, he attacks Horde and Alliance villages at various times throughout the event.
The Horseman was once a knight of the Silver Hand, but is now cursed. He is of the belief that he is alive, while those who face him are dead. When defeated, he is revealed as Thomas Thomson ( aka Sir Thomas).
To spawn him, first click on the Pumpkin Shrine to receive Call the Headless Horseman. Click the Loosely Turned Soil behind the shrine to hand in the quest. Each character can summon the horseman once per day.
He can also be summoned once only by players with the quest starting at the Shade of the Headless horseman. This quest can only be obtained from the Costumed Orphan Matron when the Shade has been defeated in one of the villages and the Large Jack-o'-Lantern is on the ground.
