Redridge Mountains – This is my all time favorite zone because its done so perfectly. I remember playing Wow for the first time as a gnome mage, and exploring the human favoring zones for the first time. This zone had it all, including a great storyline, and a super cool underwater quest to find lost tools. All kinds of new monsters, and 2 very challenging towers. All this including a flight path near a town. Plus a mean-ass boar. This zone made me realize how much I loved Wow, and couldn’t wait for more. Its like a mini continent, there’s so much going on. Redridge!!
I’ve been a huge fan of shadowfang keep pretty much since the first time i played. My favorite boss was always arugal himself even though he’s been removed in cataclysm. I still like the new bosses though, honestly i run through it solo all the time just because i love going through it. go sfk!
My favourite zone is Durotar in Kalimdor , this is my MOST AND ALWAYS WILL BE favourite zone because it was just so friggen perfect. I used to play the trial like 3 years ago and I still remember listening to durotar music 3 years back …. the questlines there was godlike and it was just well epic , the mobs there were easy to kill and DAMN questing at echo isles was also damn hard …. This is the zone where I started WoW so god bless Durotar
Glory to the Horde !
My favorite zone would have to be Winterspring, i love how it is all covered in snow and full of lots of animals. I think the zone is beautiful and somewhat peaceful place to be, not to mention the cats in the zone are beautiful, which is one of my favorite things about the area, also along with the mount alliance can obtain from there, which is just as beautiful.
I like Teldrassil. I know it’s just a starting area. But I remember, when I began wow with my first character, thinking just how beautiful this place was.
Zul’Farak – this is my favorite place. It’s outside, easy to do, straight forward. some bosses are hard to kill, anyway, everything is fun in this place. i think i did it more than 20 times at this place. Zul’farak, you are the best!
I would have to say the old dead mines as it was the first dungeon I went into and it was hard enough just getting to the entrance.
Once you found it the fear of not knowing what to expect, I ws just terrorfied
I like the caverns near Crossroads in Durotar the most due to the drops and some top gear – awesome caverns for hunter !
I can still picture my first flight into Ironforge, past the snowy fields and through the gates. Ironforge
will always be my first home in WoW. Watching fireworks on the hillside…
The excitement of raiding groups storming through town.
Darkshore -
My favorite area would have to be Darkshore. It was where I first started outside the starting area and i’ve started night elves and dreanei more. It’s where i met my closest friend that i’ve ever had and a few more friends. i joined my firest guild and had my first group experience while questing there. the quests series there were classic and quite easy to understand and involving, and the transition to Ashenvale was easy and very smooth. It’s where i had my first PvP interaction, with dueling and with horde lol, it was also my first camping experience and i remember how much i hated it, but it was still fun and awesome and i wouldnt trade anything for it. The memories and time i’ve spent there is worth more to me than anything in the game i have now.
My favorite 1-60 zone or instance would have to be hands down Thunderbluff or Mulgore. Being part Navajo in real life I can relate to the Tauren alot. The music was great, and the quests were fun even though a pain due to some being spread so far apart….. I’m looking at you Swoop Hunting!.
I would say the night elf starting zone, because that is the first time playing wow, but this time was memorable becUse this was the first time i was using a in game wow guide, the guide’s name was Dugi Wow Guides and i managed to get to lv 31 with the trial than i rolled a shamaman when i got TBC.
My favourite zone would probably be duskwood. i still remember the first time i went in there. since i started off as a human, i mostly quested in westfall and elwynn forest but duskwood really caught my attention because of the dark evil atmosphere to it. the most awsome experience was finding out the emerald dream portal. i was actually stunned that it looked so full of life in duskwood……….and i remember getting killed by the dragon because i was like only lvl 20 or so XD
I would have to choose old school ZG. Some of my fondest memories are in that place. When I was in a previous guild (at level 60), we spent countless hours in there learning all of the fights and having a good ‘ol time. Lots of laughs(durring the night) and cheers (when we killed a boss) filled the raid, and stuck with me through the years. Most of the people have stopped playing since then, but I will never forget the great times. That is why zul’gurub is and will always be my favorite place. I’m kinda glad blizzard is redoing the instance. it means i get to go back in and relive my fond past. Thank you and good luck to everyone else.
The Barrens-
I pick ‘The Barrens’ as my most favorite and memorable 1-60 zone in history of World of Warcraft. I picked this zone primarily because I have been playing World of Warcraft since, estimated a year, before Burning Crusade came out. I have always played Alliance, and the same character as my main on top of that, but I remember leveling new characters to make ‘Twinks’ out of back when ‘Twinks’ were what you did for fun most the time. I can remember having a blast fighting my way the the Warsong Gultch vendor in The Barrens just outside of Ashenvale, and attacking the guards, or killing some low levels flagged at Crossroads on my way there to get the next item for my level. I also remember loving going to Rachet on my old Rogue, and waiting for the first Horde to run up and be my next target, away from the guards of course. Most of all i pick this place because of the old, “The Dreaded Barrens Chat”. Any Vanilla original World of Warcraft player, can remember The Barrens Chat… CHUCK NORRIS! Whether you were Horde, or you were Alliance, you could go there to see the most stupidest and hilarious jokes and comments on World of Warcraft, I can even remember Jinx creating a shirt saying on it, “I Survived Barrens Chat”.
In basis The old Barrens, before Cataclysm, will always remind me of back when World of Warcraft was really fun, Twinks, jokes, and world pvp.
Duskwood was always my favourite levelling place in the old vanilla wow. As soon as you crossed the bridge from Redridge there was no turning back. The atmosphere was spooky – spiders, wolfs, skeletons and worgen around every bend. There was an epic quest line that took you back to Stormwind, Westfall and Elywnn Forest. I will never forget farming wolves to 20 silver for a cape I had to have from the blacksmith in Duskwood. If you got lucky you beat everyone to the goblin with rare recipes, if you got unlucky the monstrosety from the graveyard killed you and 15 other players on the road.
It really is hard to choose, but if I had to I would choose the Ghostlands. Why? Because this zone has never become boring to me. It was one of the first zones I went to when I started playing wow and I always loved the feel of this zone. Running around trying to keep track of where Knucklerot and Luzran are… in my opinion it just added to the feel of the zone. Then having that one person yell out in the chat LFG Knucklerot and Luzran and not getting just a few people but a whole bunch, man I loved the moments like that so much fun to watch them die >:)… unfortunately they do not happen as often anymore but I still believe it is a really cool zone.
Stranglethorn Vale. Before Cata, I liked this area because it provided a number of pets that my main character, Kuriang, trained and used far beyond level 40. Now this area’s level requirement has been reduced, but the hunting quests are still around that introduce you to Nesingwary, which you will encounter again in the Outlands and also in Northrend.
My favorite place when all we could do was vanilla WoW was Un’Goro Crater. I was shocked when I went down this ramp out of a desert into a lush rain forest. I was also promptly killed by an elite dinosaur. I just could not believe this was here, I never got a quest to go there, I found it on accident. But my favorite dungeon was Ragefire Chasm because I was alliance and half the fun was getting to it. I died like 50 times trying to get in there. Those were fun times way back in the beggining. I hope others were just as awed as I was, at the whole World of Warcraft story unfolding before our very eyes.
This was a tough one for me but honestly Blackwing Lair. I know it’s a raid instance and not so much a particular zone but the buildup towards the final encounter with Nefarian didn’t just take place within the lair itself. The start of all the madness that engulfed the Black Dragonflight that enamored players in both Lower and Upper Blackrock Spire started weaving a brilliant tapestry that was so amazing. The beginning of the instance provided an initial challenge to most all raid groups with Vael being a truly monumental test for most guilds to even get past. The rest of the bosses were all memorable in their own way especially Chromaggus. Tearing our way through BWL and savoring each and every subsequent victory was nothing compared to the sheer scale that Nefarian’s fight had at the time. This was before Blizzard really polished their cinematic flair in regards to raid encounters and, by today’s standards, the fight is quite tame, but my memories of it are so fond. My best moment in my years of playing the game (Started as a paladin in Beta, then rolled Hunter on release) had to be when I finally got the last piece of Tier 2 armor. Full Dragonstalker! I leaped out of my chair and started dancing much like my green-skinned counterpart in game. So, my vote goes to Blackwing Lair for sure.
my favorite 1-60 zone would be Temple of Atal’Hakkar (aka sunken temple) i really liked the story behind it and the mix of mobs that lived there. also the skinning was great!
My favorite 1-60 zone would have to be the barrens. It is my favorite zone due to the awesome quest and story it has within it. Also the best possible part of it would have to be cross roads chat. There are many funny jokes but also tons of trolls. There are just too many fond memories of the barrens i can’t exactly decide which one is my favorite.
I would have to say that Stratholme was my favorite dungeon. I remember my first trip inside. Seeing the city burning, and looking a the debris in the air, along with the smoke gave me a general feeling of foreboding as we worked our way through the undead masses.
The quests were decent and pretty challenging. I also loved how it was split into 2 sections (Live and Dead side) so you felt like you were really witnessing the plight of a city under siege.
For me, it would have to be Silverpine forest. i loved the original feel of the place, and after cataclysm, there has been a major revamp of the area. The story line is amazing, with the conflict between first Sylvanas and Garrosh, and then how the whole Worgen/Forsaken plays out. It seems to have most character and the most shocking events and storylines happen. The fact that you learn that the Forsaken have now found a way to “reproduce” and how they are that one step closer to be being pure evil is awesome.
Thanks
Ash
Im going to have too say onyxia’s lair from classic because that was my first raiding experience on warcraft with the friends that got, me started in the first place and I had fun it was just the, best time ever had youd walking into the dungeon that first time getring that adrenaline rush when fighting that boss not knowing what got do.it was exciting for met that first time and it remains ino my mind today as my beat days on warcraft in my favorite vanilla area.
All of the zones offer something unique, so to pick my special one is almost impossible, but my fondest memories are from levelling in Winterspring everything seemed so clean and well presented, I will always look at that section with fondest memories
TY:)

Deadmines was always my favorite

As for the favorite zone is also around Deadmines because of the story line
My favourite dungeon was Upper Blackrock Spire. As my first character was an Orc Warrior, I remember still improving my tanking skills while trying that tough dungeon. I also remember my jubilation when looting that final boss to earn my top level shield.
I think my favorite will always be Teldrassil (my first starting zone ^-^). When I first started playing WoW, I decided to roll a night elf because they intrigued me the most, and after seeing the starting area, I was glad I choose them xD. I always loved the lush, mystical/mysterious forest vibe it has, and it was easy to get around in, and being on an island, I never had to worry about accidentally stumbling upon an area that was too high level for me. The quest there are fun and straight forward. Teldrassil hasn’t changed much after Cata (quest wise) and only has a few visual changes (which are mainly just in Ru’thean Village), which I’m actually thankful for. It’s nice that some places will stay the same, especially when its my first starter zone ever. (Ah! this is nerdy isn’t it? Getting sentimental over a zone in a game?)
But yeah, Teldrassil will always be my favorite. Lots of memories there ^-^
my favorite 1-60 zone would be Un’Goro Crater the leveling here was great and at this level you had quite some desert areas behind you. Then all of a sudden when you ride trough a desert there is a rainforest. It also had some nice mobs that were very different from each other
Stormwind City,
This is tough but I remeber the first time I walked into Stormwind. Walking into the gates and seeing the statues (and at the time Onyxia’s head). I stopped and stood there for a while taking it all in. It is also a great place to see a lot of the gear the game has to offer. You hang out long enough and you’ll see something that will make you go “OMG I want that” and track down how to get it.
It also has a short Instance in it that you can’t get lost in. (or if you do you just need to leave the room and walk the hallway.) Stormwind City is (more so was) an epic place to go for the first time visit to WoW.
My Favourtie zone is the badlands i love the quests they give you there about deathwing and their interpretation of what happened and how they saved the day…Lol. Another reason i love the bad lands is when i first started this game (the best game) my original toon grinded so much there because i was stuck lol, but yeah met soo many of my friends on that server because of that toon and the badlands enjoyed my time in that zone
Thanks
Nate
My favourite zone is tanaris because here is where i met My (now a days) wife!
I saw her getting killed by the same mobs all the time, so I helped her. From then we kept questing, all the way up to 80! Her first worries when I helped her was if I was going to call her a noob
Now, we are married with one kid and another one on the way!
My Favorite Zone was STV i love PvP i just love how random people get ganked and how the whole guild would show up and have a war…. that’s how it was when i first started LvLing wise was hard since ganking always takes place but was fun. A a rogue didn’t have a Problem at all…. I also like the face that Gurubashi Arena is just open PvP Very Good place to have fun with friends and enemies from both Faction…..
My favourite place would be Zul’Farak. I remember going in during vanilla wow with my friends and we had a lot of good times there. Leveling up my pally post-Cata and a few quests were done in there. Brings back a smile to me
The dungeon i love is UBRS because i love it when i enter in vanillas with my resto shaman and when it was 10man dungeon i love beast boss fight and general last boss fight that we need to kite him first and kill his guard then kill him
I love that and i love vanillas days
Thank you for reading
Your friend

My favorite zone would have to be Un’Goro Crater because I love the jurrassic feel to it. It was also the place where I was able to raise my Venomhide Ravasaur mount. I thought that it was really fun hunting dinosaurs, slithids, and gathering eggs. What I also liked about the place was the storyline cause it would make sense for the gods to have some kind of experimental place were they could make more creatures far from civilizations.
My favourite zone after The Shattering would have to be Stranglethorn Vale. I think the changes that’ve been made to the quests are great, especially in the southern part of the zone. The quest line where you go undercover for Booty Bay as a Bloodsail pirate is fun from start to finish, not to mention the epic phasing in the final battle for Booty Bay. Awesome lore in this zone, love it.
My favourite Zone is Westfall , because I realy like the storyline there and because my favourite dugeon ( Deathmines ) is there too. As a Human Paladin Deathmines was my first dungeon I’ve ever been inside. I still remember the moment when I ,as a Tank, killed van Cleef. My first pet was from there too. It was a parrot.
My favorite low level zone after cataclysm has to be Westfall!! I am a big fan of CSI shows, and they do such a great job with the investigation type quests, and who can say they don’t love Horatio Laine!!!!! And i gotta say the cut scene where u witness the group killing VanCleef is teary stuff…..then u soooo want to kill “Hope”. In general I really love the new changes in WoW and your guides, but the storyline there is a kick
!
My favourite zone is, really, Duskwood. I’ve levelled all of my pj there, and i still like it. It’s wonderful how it’s all covered with darkness and with so many wolves and spiders. My favourite NPC of Duskwoodis Stitches. So many deaths while I was levelling ^^.
my all time favorite 1-60 zone is and always will be Stratholme…. Why might you ask? Well for one i love how dark and gloomy the place is after Arthas perges the city. Another one is the awesome story line behind it ( for those warcraft 3 players out there). An my final reason for Stratholme being my favorite 1-60 zone was all the cooperation you needed to complete the dungeon on either the human or undead side…. cause everyone knows at lvl 60 you are far from the abilities that you are at 80 or 85 soloing it… so that one wrong pull and u have a long run back to the instance entrance to try it all over again.
i would have to pick the barrens( the new and the old)! I started playing Wow on a nightelf but didnt like the dark forest he started in, so i changed to orc and troll. I now have 9 toons all orc and troll except 2 but i enjoyed how the lvling was in the barrens, that u really needed to explore the whole area to complete quests and now that its 2 lands and most quests u need to complete to get to the other side which gives yet another complication that u have to complete. its also a great grouping area as u can go from lvl 12- lvl 33 and spent alot of time questing without getting bored. I met 2 guys from another country there and still play with them now and its been 2 1/2 years. Keep going blizzard and Dugi keep up the great work, you make Wow even more enjoyable!!
My favorite zone is Nagrand (WotLK). Since the 1st time i played wow i`ve thought of the place as one of the most beautiful and relaxing zones in wow, not to mention the funny quests i`ve gone through there
My favorite dungeon has to be deadmines, in vanilla i played it alot with my hunter, beause i just loved doing dungeons with other people instead of the long long long quest grinding, i only reached level 21 with it, but that doesn’t really matter, i just loved it back in the days, also my favorite zone was westfall because it has deadmines in it, and i played it alot when i had some alts, it was just so much fun
Okay my favourite dungeon would have to be Zul’Farrak in Tanaris. Why? i just love the layout : the sand, the detailed rock, i love the boss encounters too!
On the other hand, my favourite zone would have to be Hellfire Peninsula- Outland (58+) i love the quest chains there!:) PLUS………… being able to fly your first mount on your character.
So that is my favourite dungeon/zone now all i have to do is cross my fingers…. xD
I have loved redridge from the beginning of wow, it has been a zone that I have enjoyed time and time again! In Vanilla the zone had everything, group quests, collecting quests, kill quests, escort quests and elite mobs! I loved the fact that this zone brought everyone there together especially for the Tharil’zun and Gathill’zog quests in the keep! When cata arrived they revitalised the zone from it’s nerf from elites in wrath and made the new Keeshan quests fantastic, I especially now love the sneaking around the Orc camp and the tank parading quests! It is the best zone in wow and has indeed been the reason why I kept and keep playing wow to level new characters just to pass through there! What a fantastic area!
My favorite zone iz STV, what’s not to love about that zone?
ZONE GENERALY- It’s a good 15 levels of jungle fun if you start the zone as soon as those Nessingwary quests become available to you. Even with all the the running back and forth, there is always something delicious to catch your eye and enjoy. Feeling of runing trough the jungle with full bags and loads of quest to turn in is awesome… and those pirates around booty bay….. and hearing some of the horror stories that have come out of STV from PvP servers…..
PVP – I love it because there you taste some “first blood” of contested PVP zone, and there’s allways some action going on, no matter what time it is
QUESTS – great quests that killing mobs makes you feel like every mob you kill is accomplishing some quest. As a result 30-40 stretch is always the fastest leveling period for me. As a hunter my top moment was first taking ELITE King Bangalash as a pet (and hope to survive) and then use it to finish quest where you need to kill him. And “king” remained as my pet till 60 for sure. I will admit that i think i have only completely “The Green Hills of Stranglethorn” on a total of two characters. And later on other chars i bought all those damn pages!
I must say, my Favorite zone was and will always be Hilsbrad Foothills. That was a place where I just loved being around. it was always beautiful! With the thick mist, rain, etc! As I leveled on, I came back, a lot. just thinking back of the good memory’s (the PVP there, quests, the town.). One thing I loved about it was, Southshore the ally town there. I am Horde, and I will always be. So I remember me trying to attack Southshore on level 30! It was like raiding ICC for me at the time! me and my friends would line up before the town and sneak through the town killing all Allys in sight! All this was in patch 3.0 or something, so you could just kill any ally insight. Another reason why I liked it was one specific quest, I cant remember the name, but its the one where you kill the human farmers and then collect their bones. You had to collect 40 of them, so as you could think it took a while! And so after a while I leveled up to 72, but then I got bored with WoW and stopped playing. a few months later, I started playing again. for one reason, Hilsbrad Foothills. when I started playing again, I immediately leveled there!
Now after Cataclysm it looks amazing! But I will always love the old Tarren Mill. You would not believe how many Screen shots I took! I counted it and I have took over 300 of just that zone!
Hilsbrad was the zone I stayed in the most. And I loved it the most.
For me it has to be dead mines, It was my first dungeon and thats where i remember thinking “well its this game for me”
i have always enjoyed lakeshire. because of the story line. and also how mysterious they made it fill. everytime i level a char. I always have to make a visit.
