Hey! We finally made it to herbs. It’s been a long journey so far. I only got a couple more sections left to go. Stay posted.

Below is the herb guide. As a bonus, I’ve added a supplement for you inscribers out there to make it easier to find what you are looking for. Yes, I even color coded it for you.

If you see a “<—Mill thisnext to a item, this means, if you have to buy a herb to mill, then this herb is the cheapest to mill of the set of herbs used to make pigments. If you are going to sit in the AH to level up, no need to break the bank.

Until next time….

–Peacebloom & Silverleaf
These are found nearly every where in the start zones. Peacebloom can be found out in the open and Silverleaf near trees.
[Peacebloom Average Price: 3.9 GP Per 20 Stack]
[Silverleaf Average Price: 3.8 GP Per 20 Stack] <—Mill this

–Earthroot
Earthroot can also be found in the starting zone, although these are placed on hills and mountains. For the horde, Tirisfal Glades has the highest amount of nodes, so try farming in the mountains east of Agamand Mills. If you fight for the other side, Dun Morogh’s Gol’Bolar Quarry has the highest concentration of nodes.
[Earthroot Average Price: 6.2 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Mageroyal, Bruiseweed, Briarthorn & Swiftthistle
Only the horde side has a good concentration of nodes for these plants. Most Ally points are very spread out and too few to be found. If you are serious about farming these items, the easiest place to get to is the barrens (helps if you are a skinner, too). Stick to the open areas for Mageroyal and you are bound to trip on them. Bruiseweed can be found near trees and buildings. Swiftthistle can only be found from these two nodes.  Briarthorn can be found at the base of trees.

On a side note, even though the Silverpine Forest is a bit of a trip to the Alliance players, the Mageroyal does tend to grow in clusters here. Also, the Briarthron is not too shabby here, either. The good news is that most of the mobs here are Ally friendly (not so much if you are a hordie).
[Mageroyal Average Price: 17.6 GP Per 20 Stack] <—Mill this
[Bruiseweed Average Price: 23.4 GP Per 20 Stack]
[Swiftthistle Average Price: 18.3 GP Per 20 Stack]
[Briarthorn Average Price: 28.2 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Stranglekelp
The best area is along the coast of Ratchet. The druids will have the best bet due to the aquatic form giving 50% swim speed boost. Get to town and go north to the Delta (where the river meets the sea) and jump into the water. Just follow the coast South until you hit the border. Now, this Southeren area is also great for fishing firefins. A two for one deal! If this area happens to be too populated, swim up and down the Western coasts of STV starting from Booty Bay.
[Stranglekelp Average Price: 20.2 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Wild Steelbloom
Some might suggest STV, but let’s face it, the trolls are an annoying mob to deal with. Head to the Arathi Highlands and stick to the rocky areas. The map below shows the route with the obvious Alliance detour in blue.
[Wild Steelbloom Average Price: 35.6 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Grave Moss
If you are going to farm for Grave Moss, be prepared to spend some time in a graveyard. If you are farming for silk, and you happen to be in the Scarlet Monstary anyways, might as well hit the graveyard in the instance while you are at it. Otherwise, the two prime locations are in Raven Hill Cemetery in Duskwood and the Kodo Graveyard right smack in the middle of Desolace.
[Grave Moss Average Price: 28.2 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Kingsblood, Liferoot, Fadeleaf, Khadgar’s Whisker, and Goldthorn
This is light and easy laps in STV (shown below) is the best route for farming. If you are looking for Liferoot, you can still use the route, but you’ll have better odds near the water sources. Look for the Fadeleaf in low areas of vegetation away from the water. Look for the Goldthorn in hills and rocks, and Khadgar’s Whisker at the base of trees. Of note, if this area is populated you can run a couple of Scarlet Monastery laps (Go in, gets nodes, get out, reset, repeat). If the area is populated by farmers, and don’t mind a bit of fighting, follow the route below in Dustwallow Marsh for prime pickings on Goldthorn and Liferoot.
[Kingsblood Average Price: 22.6 GP Per 20 Stack] <—Mill this
[Liferoot Average Price: 23.1 GP Per 20 Stack]
[Fadeleaf Average Price: 69.3 GP Per 20 Stack] <—Mill this
[Khadgar’s Whisker Average Price: 70.1 GP Per 20 Stack]
[Goldthorn Average Price: 80.1 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Wintersbite
This item can only be found in the Alterac Mountains. Hit the snow and sniff around. The nodes for this area also include Goldthorn and Kingsblood, so pick those up for a chance of Wintersbite to show up.
[Wintersbite Average Price: 79.0 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Firebloom
Tanaris and Searing Gorge both have this item. As do the Blasted Lands and the Badlands, if not more sparse. Look for this item out in the open.
[Firebloom Average Price: 75.6 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Arthas’ Tears
This is item is found in places where the scourge has taken root, and of that the Western/Eastern Plaguelands come to mind more often. Use the map below to bounce between the towers and pick up the nodes.
[Arthas’ Tears Average Price: 134.0 GP Per 20 Stack]**

–Sungrass
Anyone will tell you to go to the Hinterlands and just start stalking around. That is good advice. The herb grows in open spaces, and there’s plenty of that up there. If you are looking for a more secluded area, or if you happen to be on the opposite side of the world, work the Feralas fields. It’s shorter with more condense nodes. Let the map show you the way.
[Sungrass Average Price: 56.5 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Purple Lotus and Wildvine

Every farmer and his brother will know that Jintha’Alor in the Hinderlands is that place to be. It is the most populated node area in the game. But, you are going to fight to get to it. Mobs are everywhere. Wildvine can only be collected via Purple Lotus. They can be dropped by the trolls that live around it. Now, if this area is too populated, even by PvE standards, you can always farm in Feralas. Every temple in Feralas is heavy noded.
[Purple Lotus Average Price: 43.5 GP Per 20 Stack]
[Wildvine Average Price: 69.2 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Ghost Mushroom
This shroom can be found only in caves. Both Hinterlands and Zangarmarsh have caves you can dive into, and both have their advantages. If you are already in the Hinterlands farming sungrass and purple lotus, stop at the cave atop of Jintha’Alor, do some cliff diving to base level (optional)*, and work your way to Skull Rock caves. By the time you get back to Jintha’s Alor, all the nodes would have reset (see map above). In Zagarmarsh, you get the two for one. The mobs will have a chance to net you unidentified plant parts that can be turned in for rep with the Cenarion Refuge (up to honored only), and you get 15 rep for Sporeggar for each kill.
[Ghost Mushroom Average Price: 81.7 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Blindweed
This herb is found along the marshy shores in the Swamp of Sarrows. Just follow the waterways. That’s a bonus to horde, since you have a FP there. A second bonus for all because this area is fairly vacant. It can be found in Zangarmarsh, but few and far between.
[Blindweed Average Price: 50.7 GP Per 20 Stack] <—Mill this

–Gromsblood
This item is found in Azeroth where ever demons are found. So, Felwood is a nice place to start. The Blasted lands, however, is a smaller zone, and let’s be honest, if you are doing Dugi’s Guide (Ally side), then you are going to go a bit of grinding through here. Might as well make the best of it.
[Gromsblood Average Price: 94.8 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Golden Sansam
This is an herb that you can find in shady areas, as in near base of “mountain” like areas, near trees and houses. You will find this in areas you’ve already farmed such as the Hinterlands, Feralas, and Felwood (see amps above). The Hellfire Peninsula grows this herb like grass.
[Golden Sansam Average Price: 49.5 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Dreamfoil
Here’s another herb that can be farmed in the Hellfire Peninsula, but without rhyme or reason. Most people like to farm this in Azshara, but I tend to stay away from Azshara because I  personally can’t stand this zone. That being said, I cannot ignore the fact that Azshara is a prime place to farm due, mostly to the lack of, well, farmers. Dreamfoil will not be found on the sandy beaches. Look everywhere else.
[Dreamfoil Average Price: 47.8 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Mountain Silversage
As suggested, you will find this growing on the rocks of mountains. If you are farming this the Hellfire Peninsula, break out the flying mount and take to the skies. Many of those nodes are in hard to reach locations.  Back in Azeroth, hug the walls of Winterspring west of Everlook. If you find dragonkin, then you’ve wondered too far east. As a bonus, if you are a miner, you can farm Thorium Ore and Dense Stone with Mountain Silversage on the same route in the Un’goro Crater, as well as colored gems, dirt piles, and Bloodpetal Sprouts.
[Mountain Silversage Average Price: 59.5 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Icecap
If you want to find this item, you will need to head to Winterspring. This is the only place that it grows and it spams up most of the nodes in the zone. Easy to find. Easy to pick up. (see map above)
[Icecap Average Price: 157.4 GP Per 20 Stack]**

–Plaguebloom
Surpise — Plaguebloom can be found in the Plaguelands. In EPL, the nodes are spread out all over, so if you are farming something else in this area, keep your eyes open. In WPL, the nodes are a bit more condensed. Attach your Argent Dawn Commission and do loops between the four farms where the nodes are the highest.
[Plaguebloom Average Price: 50.7 GP Per 20 Stack] <—Mill this

–Felweed
This item grows all over Outland. This is “herb skined” from many of the denizens of Outland. Easy to farm.
[Felweed Average Price: 27.3 GP Per 20 Stack] <—Mill this

–Dreaming Glory
Take up flying the outer boundaries of the outland zones. The herb grows mostly along the mountainous regions. A couple of rings around Nagrand and Terokkar Forest should do the trick. The interior of the Blade’s Edge Mountains has quite a few nodes, too, so follow up the ranges and then back down again.
[Dreaming Glory Average Price: 32.4 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Mana Thistle
Anywhere in Outland where you need a flying mount to reach, you’ll find this node. First and foremost is above Shattrath City (North side) where you should stop in those mountains every time you pass through. If happen to be in Netherstorm, fly north to a small island west of Forge Base Gehenna and Oblivion. It is small and condensed with several node, not to mention a bit too isolated for most farmers.
[Mana Thistle Average Price: 35.4 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Netherbloom
Keep to the skies and keep towards the edges of the small isles of Netherstorm. This zone is crawling with this plant that grows out in the open. There is none inside the mana stations or the bio domes. Be sure to grab some Mana Thistle while in this area (see above).
[Netherbloom Average Price: 67.5 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Nightmare Vine & Nightmare Seed
You can find this in Outland where ever demons are infesting, so that means Shadowmoon Valley is high up on that list. In SMV, they pretty much grow up everywhere, so follow the map below and watch that arrgo. They can also be dropped by any Servant of Illidan.
[Nightmare Vine Average Price: 65.6 GP Per 20 Stack]
[Nightmare Seed Average Price: ?? GP Per 20 Stack]***

–Ragveil
Zangarmarsh is crawling with these nodes. As are the instances connected to Zangarmarsh. Look close to the waterways and cannals, even in the dead mire, where they will stick out more.
[Ragveil Average Price: 48.0 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Terocone
Nail this herb down as best as you can. Stick mostly to the greenery of Terokkar Forest and near the trees (apparently the herb likes the shade.). Obviously, this is a highly populated area for questing so grab them where and when you can.
[Terocone Average Price: 53.0 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Ancient Lichen and Fel Lotus
I wanted to talk about the two more hard to get herbs of outland together. The Ancient Lichen can only be found in the 5 man instances of Outland and Fel Lotus has a 5% drop rate with those same nodes. Fel Lotus can be found with any of the herbs of Outland, but with a smaller chance beyond the Ancient Lichen.

Ancient Lichen can be farmed best by the “skin herbing” of the Bog Lords and Fungal Gaints of Zangarmarsh. There are others, such as the mobs of  the Underbog and the Steamvaults, but the 4% drop rate is about the same.
[Ancient Lichen Average Price: 27.9 GP Per 20 Stack]
[Fel Lotus Average Price: 47.1 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Adder’s Tongue
This herb grows like a weed in the Sholazar Basin. Keep an eye out for nodes near trees and bushes. There are no nodes in the plague side of this land nor in the snows.
[Adder’s Tongue Average Price: 25.3 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Deadnettle
This is a random pick up from Northrend herb nodes. You will stumble on it from time to time. With a 30 – 40% chance of pick up, these herbs should be an easy farm.
[DeadnettleAverage Price: 18.2 GP Per 20 Stack]

-Fire Leaf & Fire Seed
These herbs don’t get farmed too much anymore (maybe in the future?). But, if you are looking, head to the Geyser Fields in the Borean Tundra. This is the type of herb that you want to track on foot. They spurt flames from time to time and they are better to see with the eyes than a mini map. They are a rocky plant, so stick to the edges and you’ll find more.
[Fire Leaf Average Price: 22.3 GP Per 20 Stack] <—Mill this
[Fire Seed Average Price: ?? GP Per 20 Stack]***

–Goldclover
This is a common herb found in the Howling Fjord and Borean Tundra. This item likes to grow out in the open, with preference for grass over snow.
[Goldclover Average Price: 34.7 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Lichbloom & Icethorn
If you want to farm this little herb, you better have a flying mount. The mountainous areas of Storm Peaks has the highest number of nodes in the game. Icecrown comes second. Look near trees and on mountainsides. If you don’t have cold weather flying yet, you can still grab a few at the base of the Storm Peaks by doing small circuits.
[Lichbloom Average Price: 49.8 GP Per 20 Stack]
[Icethorn Average Price: 28.5 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Talandra’s Rose
The hot spot for this Northrend herb is in Zul’Drak. It grows in the shadows, so don’t look for it out in the open. Also, not in the snows. Dry land only, with a few exceptions of it showing up in some water.
[Talandra’s Rose Average Price: 42.6 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Tiger Lily
This herb favors water in Northrend, and you will find the nodes along inland shorelines. The best place is in the Borean Tundra, where there is only one lake, in the middle of the map. Do laps here and collect the easiest pick in Norhtrend.
[Tiger Lily Average Price: 54.4 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Black Lotus
I’m not going to sugar coat this. This is a pain the that ass to farm for. Only four, at max, are spawned at any given time, between each zone (Silithus, Winterspring, EPL, and Burning Steppes) with a 45 min to 1 hour respawn time. Now there are creatures you can “herb skin” with a very low rate. If you feel the need, take on Raven’s Wood Leafbeard and Raven’s Wood Stone bark (.02 to .08% chance).  Finish the quest (found here) to make them mobs neutral.
[Black Lotus Average Price: 77.3 GP Per 20 Stack]

–Frost Lotus
The last of the great Lotusi, found in Northrend, can, in fact, be dropped by several denizens of the lands. But the drop rate sucks. If you are going to find one, pick it up, don’t think twice about it. There is about a 6% chance of gathering through other plant nodes in Northrend, so pick up everything if you are going to farm for this plant.
[Frost Lotus Average Price: 322.2 GP Per 20 Stack]****

* I have a habit of jumping off cliffs. People hate it when I lead.
** Don’t believe this price. One of the servers has abused the AH and caused inflation of this item.
*** No AH listings on any of my servers. Junk item or rare find? You decide.
**** High end item. Better sold in single units rather than stacks of 20.

##As always, results will vary. GP (Gold Pieces) are averaged out over 6 different Auction Houses and double checked by me. All locations are scouted before hand for precision.##

Just wanted to put a small intro for this section. Scale farming is a bit bigger of a selection than I thought it was going to be, so I made it separate from the leather farming. While I was researching the price averages, I noticed that they were few and far between. In fact, several items were not on sale at all! I checked again two days later; no change in frequency.

If you noitce a “?? GP,” that mean this item did not show up on my AH radar. To make up for the lack of proper info, I’ve added the recipe list for each item, so you can make the call how valuable a certain scale is.

Not to say you can’t sell “?? GP” items, only that they are a rare bid. Several things can be said for this. The items are jank/junk that make jank/junk crafts. Or, the item is so hard to get to begin with that these items are very rare to sell. In fact, they might be so rare to get a hold of that when they do sell, they sell quickly. I’ll leave that up to you to decide.

Now, what does this mean to you? In whole, the Scale Market is open. You might find that scales are hard to come by. Then make them visible. You might not know what to charge on an open market. Make it worth your while. If there is two scales selling at 20 SP each, buy them out and make the new average 4 GP each. Own that market. People with the Auctioneer addon (and those like it) will see the difference. You will find buyers, tho it might take time.

But more on that advice later.

Until next time….

Azeroth’s Farmer’s Almanac

Scale Farming

–Black Whelp Scale
While not exactly a high end item, people still need to work with these scales, even if only at low level. The only place to farm these is in the Redridge Mountains by hunting down black dragon whelps. Since this in Alliance territory, the horde AH might fetch a better price.
[Black Whelp Scale Average Price: 10 SP Per Unit]

Used for:

–Cobra Scales
You have a choice of Coilskar Cobras and Twilight Serpents. Both have the same drop rate, but they both have a different strategy to farm. With the cobras, use the cave in the area where they are more populated. There’s plenty of Naga in the way, so come prepared. At the end of the cave is a NPC that gives you an escort quest, and some help with the farming. Be sure to abandon the quest before you leave the cave so you can re-take it again when he respawns!

For the Serpents, head to the eastern side of the Twililght Ridge in Nagrand. These are less hectic hunts because, unlike the others in the cave, you can drop in from your flying mount, kill, skin, and get back up in the air.
[Cobra Scales Average Price: 4.5 GP Per Unit]

Used For:

–Deviate Scale & Perfect Deviate Scale

A very common item found only in the Barrens. If it has the name “Deviate” in it, you can get it on a drop or from a skin. You can even fish for it. This counts for both inside and outside the Wail Caverns. Now, to get the perfects, you will need to be patient. They have the same targets, but a drop rate of around 5% or less. Those rates increase inside the Wailing Caverns.
[Deviate Scale Average Price: 10 SP Per Unit]
[Perfect Deviate Scale Average Price: 1.2 GP Per Unit]

Used For:

–Fel Scales & Crystal Infused Leather

Quillfangs, or any other ravager for that matter, in the Hellfire Peninsula are easy targets. They are grouped together, low level (by outland standards), good respawn, average drop rate, fast selling meat– this is what good farming is all about.

The Shard-Hide Boar, however, offer that neat two for one deal. They skin for scales and Crystal Infused Leather. That map is also below.
[Fel Scales Average Price: 4.2 GP Per Unit]
[Crystal Infused Leather Average Price: 40 SP Per Unit]

–Green Whelp Scale
Plenty of whelps flying around in the Swamp of Sarrows. Check the map below and just keep doing laps. They have a pretty good respawn time. No need to go into the cave.
[Green Whelp Scale Average Price: ?? GP Per Unit]

Used for:

–Scorpid Scale and Heavy Scorpid Scale
If you want easy scorpid scales, take the back door into Uldaman and raid out the scorpids traveling in packs. There’s only a few nests in there, so go in, get what you need and get out. Rinse, wash, and repeat.

As for the heavy scales, you will need to look elsewhere. While the spire scorpid in the Blackrock Spire will net you a scale nearly every time you skin it, the hottest action is in Silithus. This whole area is crawling with scorpids, as well as other skinable delights. Stick close to Cenarion Hold for quick drop offs to the mule.
[Scorpid Scale Average Price: 30 SP Per Unit]
[Heavy Scorpid Scale Average Price: 30 SP Per Unit]

Used for: (Scorpid Scale)

Used for: (Heavy Scorpid Scale)

–Jormungar Scale
Look back up to the Borean Leather section and take note of the worgs you have to kill. Well, you are in competeition with the Jormungar worms in the area. Those are the one that drop the scales. Another 2 for 1 area.
[Jormungar Scale Average Price: 6.2 GP Per Unit]

–Slimy Murloc Scale
This is one of the few scales on this list that is a drop and not a skin, so anyone can get these. For a place more suited for both Horde and Ally, hack and slash your way around Lake Falathim in Ashenvale. (It’s ok, the murlocs are used to it.) Yes, there is some quests kill required there so expect some traffic.
[Slimy Murloc Scale Average Price: 20 SP Per Unit]

Used for:

–Thick Murloc Scale
Here is the other drop not skin scale. Easy spot with many murlocs awaiting their own death? Take a trip north in the Dustwallow Marsh and hit everything on the beaches and the small isle next to it. It is a bit clustered, but they are only murlocs.
[Thick Murloc Scale Average Price: 1.9 GP Per Unit]

Used for:

–Turtle Scale
Hands down my favorite place to farm in on the shoreline in the hinterlands. The saltwater snapjaw gives a 50/50 chance for scales. Look at Thick Leather above for more details. If this area is too populated, try the Tanaris Coastline.
[Turtle Scale Average Price: 30 SP Per Unit]

–Wind Scales
I am a big fan for 2 for 1 specials, and you can find it here, in the Blade’s Edge Mountains. The scalewing serpent has a good drop rate, as well as its cousin, forsworn scalewing, a bit north up the trail. Also, you can turn in your cooking daily with Serpent Flesh and make some nice Crunchy Serpent for the spell casters. (seek out Xerintha Ravenoak for the recipe)
[Wind Scales Average Price: 3 GP Per Unit]

–Worn Dragonscales and Green Dragonscales
The place to be is the Pool of Sarrows and the Sunken Temple. Make a lap around the pool, culling the wormkin in your way and then take a quick trip through the temple in the middle, if you can hack it.
[Worn Dragonscales Average Price: ?? GP Per Unit]

[Green Dragonscales Average Price: ?? GP Per Unit]

Used for: (Worn Dragonscale)

Used for: (Green Dragonscale)

–Dreamscale
Defeat a world dragon, win a prize. Winna winna every time. (Emeriss, Lethon, Taerar, and Ysondre only). Second prize gets a long walk back to his corpse.
[Dreamscale Average Price: 6.3 GP Per Unit]

Used for:

–Black Dragonscales
Best bets are the Blackwing Lair and the Blackrock Spire. If you choose not to go into the instances, brave the Burning Steppes and tackle the flame scale dragonspawn. They have the highest rates outside the instances.
[Black Dragonscales Average Price: ?? GP Per Unit]

Used for:

–Brilliant Chromatic Scale
Only one place to farm these, and that’s inside the Upper Blackrock Spire. These are more drops than skin, but you only need 4. Keep your eyes open for Chromatic Elite Guards, Dragonspawn, and Whelps.

[Brilliant Chromatic Scale Average Price: ?? Per Unit]

–Blue Dragonscales
Any dragonkin listed below will give you a chance to skin a blue scale. That being said, prepare for an ass whooping, because all the worthy hunts are all elite. Even at level 70 this will be challenging.
[Blue Dragonscales Average Price: ?? GP Per Unit]

Used for:

–Icy Dragonscales
Nearly every dragonkin in Northrend will give a chance of skinning this scale. The highest rates are in the instances. The most convenient is in Utgarde Keep with 6 dragons needing to be put down along the way. (they each have a 50/50 chance.)
[Icy Dragonscales Average Price: ?? GP Per Unit]

–Nether Dragonscales
Do your hunting in the Blade’s Edge Mountain. Look for Dreadwings and Nether Whelps. Yes, there are some in Netherstorm, but the levels are higher and spawns are more sparse.
[Nether Dragonscales Average Price: 1.4 GP Per Unit]

–Red Dragonscales
Tuck away, far to the eastern part of the Wetlands, you will find several camps of dragonkin. Be cautious, they are all level 60ish elites.
[Red Dragonscales Average Price: ?? GP Per Unit]

Used for:

–Scale of Onyxia
You know, I can’t tell you where everything is. Some things I’m just gonna have to let you figure out for yourself. (Hint: This drops from Onyxia)
[Scale of Onyxia Average Price: 31.9 GP Per Unit]

Dugi’s Guide Viewer v4.19 Update is now available with several new features.

http://www.ultimatewowguide.com/download/

* Ant Trail Feature: An ‘Ant trail’ will now appear on your map and minimap to help you find those waypoints easier. It will also connect the waypoints together to create a route on your map,  this will only work if you’re using TomTom.  (Carbonite already have a trail feature)

* Updated Waypoint System:  The waypoints should now point in the order of the description rather than pointing to the last coordinates first.

* Updated Waypoint Descriptions: The waypoints description for accepting and turning in quests will also include the NPC name for easier reference.

* Over 200 Bug fixes for Leveling, Dungeon and Dailies Guide, special thanks to everyone that submitted the bug reports in the forum.

* Daily/Event guides tab have been merged together, the events guide can be found at the bottom of the Daily/Event tab.

* Ach/Prof tab have been added for our upcoming in-game Achievement and Profession leveling guide.

So incase you’re wondering we still have plans to release our Achievement and Profession leveling guide before Cataclysm is released, we are trying to cover as many achievements as we can so players can complete their achievements before Cataclysm arrive. This is important as some achievements will be gone forever but you get to keep them if you have already completed the achievement,  a great way to secure have more achievement points than everyone else for bragging rights :) .   Some of achievement guides will also be in video format as well as in-game.

The Profession Leveling guides will save you from alt tabbing from the game to read guides,  and it will provide you with a step by step guide that will auto detect with routes and waypoints to find trainers, materials etc to make leveling your professions easier than ever.

The Achievements & Profession guides will require cheap upgrade fee, it won’t as big as any of our main guides so it will be a lot cheaper and Cataclysm updates for it will be free.

Unfortunately I’m not able to give you an ETA at this time, we are working as fast as we can.

I highly recommend you update your Dugi’s Guide Viewer addon to v4.19 and also reinstall the guide for best results, visit our download area below for the updates.

Leather farming is actually pretty big. So, I divided it up into two parts. The first being Leather and the second being Scales. There is an easter egg in every post. I wanted to make sure I did not neglect the leather workers out there. Especially, for one of the more profitable gathering professions.

Don’t worry, herbalist; your time is coming soon.

Azeroth’s Farmer’s Almanac

Leather Farming

Light Leather & Light Hide

The finest place to farm is in the Northeastern section of Loch Modan, where there are bears and boars that drop 1 or 2 lights with nearly no scraps. If you want to start early, go to the The Maclure Vineyards in Elwynn Forest where the boars have the fastest respawn rate in the land. A lot of scraps, tho. If you’re a higher level, work the north side of Raven Hill Cemetery. The wolves in this area respawn pretty quickly and it’s a rather small area to work with. Of course, if you’re a horde, you’ll want to stick to the Barrens, where everything is skinable and is liked by all levels (try the raptor grounds. Low respawn times.). Nearly everything in the Wailing caverns is skinable, so that is also an option. Not to mention that The Barrens is the only area you can find the recipe for Elixir of Giant Growth. Last but not least, take on Shadowfang Keep. Everything is skinable and no scraps.

As for Light Hide, for the best drop rates, you’ll need to hit the instances. Both Shadowfang Keep and the Wailing Caverns has the highest percentage. The Loch listed above does drop light hide as well, but the chances are severely lower.

[Light Leather Average Price: 30 GP Per 20 Stack]
[Light Hide Average Price: 20 SP Per Item]

Medium Leather & Medium Hides

Two great spots, one common enemy. The best place to farm is in The Howling Vale in Ashenvale. The respawn is very fast and the drops will also include heavy leather and medium and heavy hides. This is also very ideal for a horde on a PvP because it is very isolated and a small area. On the other side, the Nightbane camp (60.0, 80.0) in Duskwood also have Worgen to chew on with a wonderful respawn rate. This area has less junk items and several nodes for gold, silver, and tin (check the caves near by), if you are a miner.

[Medium Leather Average Price: 36 GP Per 20 Stack]
[Heavy Hide Average Price: 1.4 GP Per Unit]

Heavy Leather & Heavy Hides (+ Raptor Hide)

In the Dustwallow Marsh, hunt in the Bloodfen Burrow and the Den of Flame. The raptors and dragonkin there have excellent leather but average respawn times. If you jump between the two locations, then you should have no problems. Hunt the raptors north of the Gurubashi Arena in STV (30.0,44.0). They have the same mount of farming rate as in the marsh, but they are more spaced out; so if you are a lower level, you have time to catch your breath. Both of these locations are good for raptor hide as well, as this item is a drop from nearly every raptor in the game zones level 40 and under.

For the best in Heavy Hides, you will need to trek through Uldaman. The skinables in there have the best “group rate” mobs but all are under 10% drop rate. Sorry, that’s as good as it gets.

[Heavy Leather Average Price: 64 GP Per 20 Stack]
[Heavy Hide Average Price: 2.7 GP per Unit]
[Raptor Hide Average Price: 10 SP per Unit]

Thick Leather & Thick Hide

The creatures with the fastest respawn are the Incendosaurs located in Searing Gorge cave at 49.0, 45.0. They “drop” rugged leather, thick hides, and a crap load of scales. The best place to go is the hinterlands. Head to the coast and rack up them saltwater snap jaws. This place is a farmer’s dream because the turtles are all yellow, they drop Big-Mouth clams for meat and black pearls, turtle meat sells well on the AH, and, if you’re a horde, you have easy access via Revantusk Village. Bring your big bags (the junk adds up quick.).

If you are looking for Thick Hide above the 10% drop rate, you are going to need to hit the Sunken Temple or the Blackrock Depths. If you are a miner, you might as well bring along your Dark Iron Ore to the BRD, since this is the only place in the game to smelt the ore. (8 ore = 1 bar)

[Thick Leather Average Price: 76 GP Per 20 Stack]
[Thick Hide Average Price: 50 SP Per Unit]

Rugged Leather & Rugged Hide

Without a doubt, the absolute place to skin for Rugged Leather is in the Yeti Cave/Area in Winter spring (67.0, 41.0). Great respawns, great drops, and you are less than 1 minute away from Everlook. There are a few quests in this area, so it may be crowded (remember, not everyone is a skinner). If the crowds are getting hectic, try your sights on the Dire Maul North. In the courtyards both upper and lower, there are dogs worthy of a good skinning. Great place for levels 70+.

If your looking for decent Rugged Hide, then you are going to need to pay a trip to the Blackrock Spire. It is the only instance with a high number of mobs with a drop rate of 8 – 10 %.

[Rugged Leather Average Price: 94 GP Per 20 Stack]
[Rugged Hide Average Price: 20 SP Per Unit]

Knothide Leather

The most common hunt is in Nagrand. The Talbuk Thorngrazer make for good hunting due to their yellow nature and quick respawn. They do drop a lot of scraps, tho. For higher ups, head to the Netherstorm and skin Barbscale Crocs at Ecodome Midrealm. A word to the wise, if your going after the crocs, pack some nature resistance gear. Ouch! There’s also a daily cooking quest in the same area for mana berries. Enjoy!

[Knothide Leather Average Price: 124 GP Per 20 Stack]

Borean Leather

Up in Northrend there are a couple nice spots, but expect the hunting grounds to get a bit crowded because this is high end hunting, now. The number one spot is the Gorillas in Sholazar Basin. If you are friendly with the Frenzyheart Tribe, all those gorilla hair will vendor out to 78 SP a stack. You can also go after the Cavedweller Worgs in the Storm Peaks. While not the hunting grounds they used to be, you will have “help” hunting the worgs down. While the worms will probably steal your kills, knock out the worms first, because they have a longer respawn than the worgs. Also, dailies are worked in this area, so there should be a few corpses around.

[Borean Leather Average Price: 78 GP Per 20 Stack]

Arctic Fur

This is a rare drop from any skinning taken place in Northrend. Most rates are between 2% and .000000000000000000001% (the actual number when referring to anything as a slim chance in hell.). Stinky and Precious in Icecrown Citadel offer nearly a 1/3 chance, but they are not exactly filling the place. The highest rate outside of an instance is the Gorged Lurking Basilisk in Zul’Drak. It is 4%. Farm with patience.

[Arctic Fur Average Price: 62.5 GP Per Unit]

Fel Hide

This hide can be found throughout Outland on any skinable demon. The higher the level, the better your odds. Wrath Hounds, in peculiar, are incredibly popular, and con only be reached via flying mount in the Blade’s Edge Mountains. If that area is a bit too popular for you, head over to Netherstorm’s Arklon Ruins and hunt the hounds there. You can pick up fel armaments for the Aldor, too.

[Fel Hide Average Price: 22 GP Per 20 Stack]

Devilsaur Leather

If you want this special leather, then you will need to face down one the four roaming elite T-rexes in the open fields of Un’goro Crater. That’s all I have to say about that.

[Devilsaur Leather Average Price: 20 GP Per 20 Stack]

Light/Heavy Silithid Carapace and Silithid Chitin

Dive into Hive Ashi and find yourself some Sandstalkers. Sure, there are other bugs in this area, and they all drop Silithid Chitin, but the heavy carapace is only dropped from sandstalkers, and at a 1/10 ratio at that. Drones, Stingers, and Swarmers have an equal amount for light silithid carapace.

[Light Silithid Carapace Average Price: 16 GP Per 20 Stack]
[Heavy Silithid Carapace Average Price: 7.6 GP Per Unit]
[Silithid Chitin Average Price: 8 GP 20 Stack]

>

Nerubian Chitin

If you want to do this right, hunker down into Azjol-Nerub. Nearly everything is skinable and the drop rate in there is 40-50%. Everything outside this instance is a high 25% to 1%. But if you must, take out the Forgotten Depths in Icecrown.

[Fel Hide Average Price: 64 GP 20 Stack]

Primal Bat and Tiger Leather

Both of these leathers can be farmed only in Zul’Gurub. Obviously, go after the bats and tigers. Pretty straight forward.

[Primal Bat Leather Average Price: 16 GP 20 Stack]
[Primal Tiger Leather Average Price: 18 GP 20 Stack]

Warbear Leather

The elder shardtooth in Winterspring as a 20% drop rate, just like its cousin, rabid shardtooth, in the southern part of Winterspring. The only difference is that the elder shardtooth is 3 levels lower.

[Fel Hide Average Price: 8 GP 20 Stack]

Hello again.

This is becoming a habit. Here is another page of the Azeroth’s Farmer’s Almanac. This guide is for mining farmers and prospectors. I made a note for you re-salers out there, too. Mining is the core of the most lucrative AH business in Azeroth, so I hit it from all angles just for you.

Heh. I sure hope Dugi don’t mind me spamming up his Blog board!

Azeroth’s Farmer’s Almanac

Ore, Gem, & Stone Farming

-Copper Ore & Rough Stone
First, this should not be hard to find. Everyone will have a different route for you to follow and here’s mine. While Dun Morogh has been more ideal with it’s many peaks and nodes, I prefer the human lands. The route is quick and will take you into a popular cave with many nodes. Respawn rate for these nodes are 2 to 4 minutes (depending if you are inside or out) and a mailbox is along the way for easy drop off. On the horde side, you have Dugi’s original routes which still holds true.

[Copper Ore Average Price: 10 GP Per 20 Stack]

[Rough Stone Average Price: .8 GP Per 20 Stack]

Copper Ore is broken down into

  • Malachite (50%) [Average Price: .6 GP Each]
  • Tigerseye (50%) [Average Price: .5 GP Each]
  • Shadowgem (10%) [Average Price: 3.7 GP Each] (<—HOT!)

-Tin Ore, Silver Ore, & Course Stone
Take a trip through 1000 Needles and stick to the walls. Yes, you will deviate every once and a while, but try to stay to the walls. For the Horde, there’s a town right smack in the middle of the route. For low level Alliance, stay away from that town — the guards are hungry. Marked on the map is a flight point that you can use to unload if you are full.

Tip: Sell the silver ore in stacks of 7 for maximum efficiently.

[Tin Ore Average Price: 24 GP Per 20 Stack]

[Silver Ore Average Price: 138 GP Per 20 Stack] (<——HOT!)

[Course Stone Average Price: 18 GP Per 20 Stack]

Tin Ore is broken down into:

  • Lesser Moonstone (39%) [Average Price: 4.2 GP Each]
  • Moss Agate (38%) [Average Price: 4.3 GP Each]
  • Shadowgem(38%)
  • Aquamarine (3%) [Average Price: 4 GP Each]
  • Citrine (3%) [Average Price: 13.8 GP Each]
  • Jade(3%) [Average Price: 6.3 GP Each]

-Incendicite Ore
This is ore that is need for Ally players only. If you are a horde, you can either destroy it or Black Market to yourself to sell on the other side. You’ll need to head to the caves shown in the map below. This area is also a great place for Silver and Tin due to quick respawns.

TIP: This cave only has so many nodes of Silver and Tin in it. Work your way to the back of the cave and log out. Farm with a different toon in the 1000 Needles for 1 route. Log back into your first toon. Work your way back out, and then repeat.

[Average Price: 1.9 GP Per Unit]

-Gold Ore, Iron Ore, and Heavy Stone
There are a few places that are more accurate than Dugi’s original route, but Dugi’s is the best. Just keep in mind of Hammerfall if you are Ally; go South around Hammerfall instead of North. Don’t forget to check the caves.

[Gold Ore Average Price: 66 GP Per 20 Stack]

[Iron Ore Average Price: 26 GP Per 20 Stack]

[Heavy Stone Average Price: 70 GP Per 20 Stack]

Iron Ore is broken down into:

  • Jade (36%)
  • Citrine (35%)
  • Lesser Moonstone (35%)
  • Aquamarine (5%)
  • Star Ruby (5%) [Average Price: 5.1 GP Each]

-Truesilver Ore, Mithril Ore, and Solid Stone
For the simple routes, go to the Blasted Lands or the Searing Gorge and hug the walls, but take a trip into the Slag Pits once and a while, too. Dugi’s route is easy to do to (show below), but keep in mind anything north of the river; If you can’t hack through random mobs of level 60 elites (and a dragon), keep clear. If you are on the other continent, break out your swimming gear and farm the underwater ruins in Desolace’s Ranzajar Isle.

[Truesilver Ore Average Price: 81 GP Per 20 Stack]

[Mithril Ore Average Price: 42 GP Per 20 Stack]

Mithril Ore can be broken down into:

  • Aquamarine (35%)
  • Citrine (35%)
  • Star Ruby (35%)
  • Large Opal (3%) [Average Price: 7 GP Each]
  • Azerothian Diamond (2%) [Average Price: 8.5 GP Each]
  • Blue Sapphire (2%) [Average Price: 2.6 GP Each]
  • Huge Emerald (2%) [Average Price: 9.6 GP Each]

-Thorium Ore and Dense Stone
Go to the Un’goro Crater and hug the walls. Dive into the Slithering Scar for the Rich veins and do a quick circuit around the Fire Plume Ridge. If this area is too populated with farmers, then head next door to Silithus and raid the hives; don’t do laps there because it will just waste your time. Yes, the bugs are skinnable.

[Thorium Ore Average Price: 18 GP Per 20 Stack]

[Dense Stone Average Price: 10 GP Per 20 Stack]

Thorium Ore can be broken down into:

  • Azerothian Diamond (28%) [Average Price: 8.5 GP Each]
  • Blue Sapphire (28%) [Average Price: 2.6 GP Each]
  • Huge Emerald (28%) [Average Price: 9.6 GP Each]
  • Large Opal (28%) [Average Price: 6 GP Each]
  • Star Ruby (19%)

-Dark Iron Ore
The most direct farm is to mine the hell out of the Molten Core, but as an instance, there is no respawn nodes. However, if you wonder through the Slag Pits of Searing Gorge, then you can find nodes here, too, and you can also farm for Dark Iron Scraps from the Dwarves in this area.

Tip: Sell Dark Iron Scrap on the Ally AH in groups of 30 for maxium profit.

[Dark Iron Ore Average Price: 18 GP Per 20 Stack]

-Fel Iron Ore
Unfortunately, Dugi already has the best route. My only suggestion is that you acquire an epic flying mount to increase flight speed because that’s a looooooong route.

[Fel Iron Ore Average Price: 42 GP Per 20 Stack]

Fel Iron Ore can be broken down into:

  • Blood Garnet (18%) [Average Price: 2 GP Each]
  • Deep Peridot (18%) [Average Price: 2.2 GP Each]
  • Flame Spessarite (18%) [Average Price: 2.3 GP Each]
  • Golden Draenite (18%) [Average Price: 23.2 GP Each] (<—–HOT!)
  • Azure Moonstone (17%) [Average Price: 2.9 GP Each]
  • Shadow Draenite (17%) [Average Price: 3.6 GP Each]
  • Dawnstone (1%) [Average Price: 5.1 GP Each]
  • Living Ruby (1%) [Average Price: 5.7 GP Each]
  • Noble Topaz (1%) [Average Price: 4.4 GP Each]
  • Nightseye (1%) [Average Price: 5.2 GP Each]
  • Star of Elune (1%) [Average Price: 6.4 GP Each]
  • Talasite (1%) [Average Price: 3.7 GP Each]

-Adamantine Ore
Dugi, again, has the best route. Nagrand has the highest amount of nodes over all the other outland nodes. If this area become too populated, you can fly along the route below in the Terokkar Forest. Since this is a smaler route, having an epic mount is not as required.

[Adamantine Ore Average Price: 32 GP Per 20 Stack]

Adamantine Ore can be broken down into:

  • Adamantite Powder (100%) [Average Price: 12.6 GP Each](<—-HOT!)
  • Flame Spessarite (19%)
  • Azure Moonstone (18%)
  • Blood Garnet (18%)
  • Deep Peridot (18%)
  • Golden Draenite (18%) =)
  • Shadow Draenite (18%)
  • Dawnstone (4%)
  • Living Ruby (4%)
  • Noble Topaz (4%)
  • Nightseye (3%)
  • Star of Elune (3%)
  • Talasite (3%)

-Eternium Ore
See the Nagrand Map Above.

[Eternium Ore Average Price: 14 GP Per 20 Stack]

-Khorium Ore
This is a rare ore that only has a small percent chance of a node appearing. Basically, mine everything you see and you will have that small chance to see it pop up. Keep an eye out for it while farming in Outland.

[Khorium Ore Average Price: 194 GP Per 20 Stack]

-Nethercite Ore
Head over to Shadow Moon Valley’s Netherwing’s Ledge and have at it. You’ll need a flying mount, of course, and this ore is needed for a quest line, so don’t expect a quick sell. If you are a skinner, there are many great mobs for you here as well.

Tip: You can mine this ore to 450.

[Nethercite Ore Average Price: 20 GP Per Unit]

-Cobalt Ore
While the Dugi Map below is a great source for cobalt ore, some players might want to try to farm as soon as they get to Northrend. The map I provide is for lower level farmers.

[Cobalt Ore Average Price: 42 GP Per 20 Stack]

Cobalt Ore can be broken down into:

  • Chalcedony (25%) [Average Price: 3.4 GP Each]**
  • Dark Jade (25%) [Average Price: 3.1 GP Each]**
  • Huge Citrine (25%) [Average Price: 2 GP Each]
  • Shadow Crystal (25%) [Average Price: 1.7 GP Each]**
  • Bloodstone (24%) [Average Price: 2.9 GP Each]
  • Sun Crystal (24%) [Average Price: 1.9 GP Each]
  • Forest Emerald (1%) [Average Price: 10 GP Each]
  • Scarlet Ruby (1%) [Average Price: 29 GP Each] (<—Hot!)
  • Autumn’s Glow (1%) [Average Price: 13.4 GP Each]
  • Monarch Topaz (1%) [Average Price: 8.4 GP Each]
  • Sky Sapphire (1%) [Average Price: 10.8 GP Each]
  • Twilight Opal (1%) [Average Price: 8.9 GP Each]

-Saronite Ore
Wintersgrap is a great location for mining both Saronite ore and Titanium Ore, but if your fraction is not up to snuff, you might not have access to it. As an alternative, farm the Sholazar Basin below. While it might not seem like the best map, this route hits the main hot spots rather effectively.

[Saronite Ore Average Price: 26 GP Per 20 Stack]

Saronite Ore can be broken down into:

  • Chalcedony (18%)**
  • Dark Jade (18%)**
  • Huge Citrine (18%)
  • Shadow Crystal (18%)**
  • Bloodstone (18%)
  • Sun Crystal (18%)
  • Forest Emerald (4%)
  • Scarlet Ruby (4%) =)
  • Autumn’s Glow (4%)
  • Monarch Topaz (4%)
  • Sky Sapphire (4%)
  • Twilight Opal (4%)

-Titanium Ore*
Titanium is a rare random replacement for Saronite. This is the top end so everyone is looking for it. For the best farming results, do not attempt to farm during peak hours. Have a fast flying mount and fly low (but not low enough to arrgo). Since it is both rare and random, don’t try farming in areas that you’ve previously hit; the odds are against you. If everyone is flying close to the walls in search, then stay in small tight circles in the center.

[Titanium Ore Average Price: 200 GP Per 20 Stack]

Titanium Ore can be broken down into:

  • Chalcedony (24%)**
  • Dark Jade (24%)**
  • Huge Citrine (24%)
  • Shadow Crystal (24%)**
  • Bloodstone (24%)
  • Sun Crystal (23%)
  • Forest Emerald (4%)
  • Scarlet Ruby (4%) =)
  • Autumn’s Glow (4%)
  • Monarch Topaz (4%)
  • Sky Sapphire (4%)
  • Twilight Opal (4%)
  • Ametrine (5%) [Average Price: 109.4 GP Each]*
  • Eye of Zul (5%) [Average Price: 124.2 GP Each]*
  • Cardinal Ruby (4%) [Average Price: 142.3 GP Each]*
  • Dreadstone (4%) [Average Price: 114.6 GP Each]*
  • King’s Amber (4%) [Average Price: 116.4 GP Each]*
  • Majestic Zircon (5%) [Average Price: 138.1 GP Each]*

* Tip: This is a High End Item. Cream of the crop. Gems tend to fluctuate greatly between 20-30 GP plus or minus (per item). Ore will fluctuate depending if your fraction is in control of Wintersgasp (10-50 GP per 20 stack). Servers will vary.

** Tip: For Maxium profit, sell these gems in bulk. Sell the rest in singles (Northrend gems only)

*As always, results will vary. GP (Gold Pieces) are averaged out over 6 different Auction Houses and double checked by me. All locations are scouted before hand for precision.*

Hey everyone,

Bringing you yet another page of the Azeroth’s Farmer’s Almanac for you. This is for all you tailors out there trying to make the best out of your profession. I’ve included silk because I know how hard it is to find decent materials on the AH.

Sometimes you have to be your own supplier.

Until next time….

Azeroth’s Farmer’s Almanac

Cloth & Silk Farming

Linen cloth

The hotspot for linen is in westfall. An obvious go to point for those on the Alliance side, head for the windmill and dish it out to the defias in the area. They have a quick respawn and are drop plenty. If you’re a horde and don’t want to end up in Ally lands, then your best bet is in the ragefire chasm. A couple laps in this instance will net you roughly 100 stacks an hour.

[Average Price: 4 GP Per 20 Stack]

Wool Cloth

Without a doubt, the best place to farm for wool cloth is in the Stockades, if you’re alliance. It’s small, has a good location, and no waiting for respawns. If you’re a horde, then not so much. Try your hand at culling Mosshides in the Southeastern Wetlands. Very quick respawn rate, fair amount of wool and coinage to go around. Keep making laps and you’ll never run out of things to kill.

[Average Price: 16 GP Per 20 Stack]

Silk Cloth

The Scarlet Monastery is the place to be. Inside, nearly everything is farmable for silk, and you are not competing with several others in the same area. If instances are not your thing (or not high enough level to solo), farm out the ghouls in the Raven Hill cemetery both above and below ground (yes, there is a loop track you can follow for maximum culling).

[Average Price: 18 GP Per 20 Stack]

Mageweave Cloth

One highly recommended spot to farm is in Azshara. The undead Highborn have excellent drop rates, but a very long respawn time. Two other spots are great, one of which is in Felwood. Hunting down Furbolgs in the Timbermaw camp will get those farming drops and increase your rep with the Timbermaw Hold. The second is in Tanaris. Finding Dunemaul Orges leads to some excellent drops, if only the mobs weren’t so spread out.

[Average Price: 28 GP Per 20 Stack]

Runecloth

The Twilight Avengers in Silithus (26.0, 31.0 and 40.0, 43.2) are great mobs to farm from. The drop rate is about 50% and the mobs are clustered together. The respawn rate is very good, too. Also, you can also work on your rep while you are out here! The Ogres of Dire Maul and a great drop rate as well. Confirmed reports site the are for an average of 5 Stacks of cloth for every 30 minutes farmed.

[Average Price: 28 GP Per 20 Stack]

Netherweave Cloth

The prime place to hit is everything in and around Manaforge B’Naar. This area is filled with great drop rates, Scryer Rep drops, and weak mobs. There are many mobs in the area, so respawn isn’t an issue. For the Aldor, the Legion Hold in Shadowmoon Valley is for you. Great drops from the demons plus you get Aldor Rep drops and Fel Armaments from all the demons.

[Average Price: 30 GP Per 20 Stack]

Frostweave Cloth

One of the most reputable hot spots for farming Frostweave is in the Sholazar Basin. At 66.0, 51.0 there are fast respawns all up and down the beach with a high 40% drop rate. Keep an eye out for Freya for she will steal your kills. Cloth aside, this area nets about 100GP an hour in just coinage alone. But, if that area is too high for you and you need cloth now, hit the Kaskala Beaches (69, 49). You’ll end up doing a quest here via Dugi, so you might as well stay awhile. The Kvaldir storm the beaches in groups of five and have a drop rate of about 33%. You are easily paced here between invasion waves and you have help if you need it. If you want to get the loot, try to do at least 50% damage to them while the are engaged with ally fighters. Or, take them all on as soon as they get off the boat!

[Average Price: 76 GP Per 20 Stack]

Felcloth

If you are going to want your felcloth, you’re gonna need to head to Dire Maul. The mobs there have the highest drop rate in the game. Again, if instances are not your thing, then prepare to do some serious grinding. The Felguard Sentry in Blasted Lands are all camped together, but they only have up to 8%. And that’s the best outside of instances. Happy Farming!

[Average Price 7.1 GP Per Unit]

Mooncloth

So you can’t exactly farm for Mooncloth. You have to transform it from Felcloth (see above), but you need to use a moonwell to do so. Here’s a list of the current locations of said moonwells.

[Average Price 16 GP Per Unit]

Kalimdor

  • Ashenvale: Various places: Raynewood Retreat (59, 59)Shaeldryn’s moonwell, east of Iris Lake (53, 46)Southern moonwell, east of Mystral Lake (60, 72)
  • Darkshore: Various places, Auberdine (37, 44)
  • Desolace: Nijel’s Point
  • Felwood: Various places (Both corrupted, but can still be used to purify Felcloth into Mooncloth): Jaedenar (35, 60)Ruins of Constellas (32, 66)
  • Feralas: Feathermoon Stronghold, Dire Maul
  • Moonglade: Nighthaven (48, 33)(46, 45)
  • Silithus: Cenarion Hold (48, 37)
  • Stonetalon Mountains: Stonetalon Peak
  • Teldrassil: Various settlements, including Dolanaar Darnassus: Temple of the Moon
  • Thousand Needles: Thalanaar
  • Tanaris: Caverns of Time (near the entrance for the Battle of Mount Hyjal).

Eastern Kingdoms

  • Duskwood: In the Twilight Grove (49, 33)
  • Elwynn Forest: The Park in Stormwind City. (This location does not have the glowing waters but is still a functional moonwell.)
  • Ghostlands: On Shalandis Isle (13, 25)

Outland

  • Blade’s Edge Mountains: Evergrove (62, 39) , Sylvanaar (37, 63)
  • Terokkar Forest: Cenarion Thicket (45, 24)
  • Zangarmarsh: Cenarion Refuge (80, 64)

Northrend

  • Dragonblight: Stars’ Rest (29, 55)

Shadowcloth

To farm this item, we’re gonna need a few things to begin. First, netherweave cloth into bolts (see netherweave above), then they need to be imbued. To imbue the cloth you will need arcane dust, which you can do from nearly any green found in Outland. However, if you have the ability to create netherweave bracers or Fel Iron Blood Ring and disenchant them, then you might save yourself some money rather than buying Arcane Dust outright from the AH. Second, you’ll need Primal Shadow, which is created by 10 Motes of Shadow. For this, you’ll need to farm out Voidspawns in Nagrand (see map below). And Lastly, you’ll need Primal Fire, created by 10 Motes of Fire. This mote is best farmed by Enraged Fire Spirits found in Shadowmoon Valley (also shown below). Be sure to pull them onto land; lava hurts.

[Shadowcloth Average Price 25 GP Per Unit]
[Primal Shadow Average Price 14.1 GP Per Unit]
[Primal Fire Average Price 18 GP Per Unit]
[Arcane Dust Average Price 64 GP Per Stack]

Spellcloth

Same as above, but only replace Primal Shadow with Primal Mana. You will need to make this cloth anywhere in Netherstorm, but doing so will summon a Level 70 Angered Nether-wraith to kick your ass. If this is not the fight you are looking for, you can 1) spawn him in Area 52 and let the guards help you out, or 2) spawn him near a flight point and leave the scene as soon as he shows up. But, first things first; you’ll need a place to farm. Head north of Area 52, into the Ruins of Enkaat, and hunt down Mana Wraiths. They do have the best drop rates around. However, they can be a nightmare for casters. They tend to drain your mana for health and immune to arcane and a bulk of a hunter’s shots. But, the kill is worth it.

[Spellcloth Average Price 45.2 GP Per Unit]
[Primal Mana Average Price 30.1 GP Per Unit]

Spider’s Silk

While you would normally think that these would be found on nearly every spider, each spider has a different drop rate. In fact, the highest drop rate (10%) can be found in the Arathi Highlands. You can farm out the Great Plains Creeper and Plains Creeper in the area sectioned out below. Take note that Spider Silk sells very well for a lowbie item and much better than it’s superior Thick Spider’s Silk.

[Average Price 8.2 GP Per Unit]

-Thick Spider’s Silk

Take a trip to the Searing Gorge and start hunting down Greater Lava Spiders. If you are farming as you level, this is a bonus because they are part of the quests in this area. Note: Greater Lava Spiders are resistant to Fire.

[Average Price 8.1 GP Per Unit]

Shadow Silk

Here’s another great 2 for 1 special. You’ll find that Crypt Walkers and Crypt Stalkers both have a high (ish) drop rate, but also they do drop Crypt Fiend Parts that can be turned in for Argent Dawn Rep or sold on the AH. And if you are properly equipped, they do drop Minion’s Scourgestone for additional Rep. So, head to the Eastern Plaguelands and don’t forget those caves!

Tip: For maxium profit, sell the Crypt Fiend Parts on the Ally AH in stacks of 30.
[Average Price 1 GP Per Unit]

Ironweb Spider Silk

The Plague Lurker is your all purpose silk machine. Yes, at 14%, it has the highest non instance drop rate amongst all the spiders. It also produces shadow silk and heavy spider’s silk. And they are very abundant. They share the same spawns as the bears and wolves in the area, so be sure to clear them out, too. Don’t worry, bear and wolf meat tend to sell well on the AH.

[Average Price 4 GP Per Unit]

Netherweb Spider Silk

There will be some basic grinding here. The Dreadfang Lurker have good drops and are located within a stones throw from Shatt. Follow the route listed, and yes, several other creatures will probably get in your way. However, if you take a look at the price per unit average below, you’ll agree it will be worth the effort.

[Average Price 11.8 GP Per Unit]

Iceweb Spider Silk

The Storm Peaks has a cave north of K3 that houses the Crystalweb spiders. This is the only place outside of instances that you can farm this silk. With a 1/3 chance drop, close groupings, and decent respawn, you would really be unable to find a better spot.

[Average Price 20.1 GP Per Unit]

*As always, results will vary. GP (Gold Pieces) are averaged out over 6 different Auction Houses and double checked by me. All locations are scouted before hand for precision.*

Hey everyone,

It’s me again. This time I’m going to post new pages for my guide “Azeroth’s Farmer’s Almanac.” This is for all you true farmers out there that what to make the most of your gold farming profession. Today, I’m going to show you the best spots for Fishing for materials and secondary quest items.

Happy Fishing!

–Daknit

Azeroth’s Farmer’s Almanac

Fish Farming

-Firefin Snapper
Needed for Fire Oil. (Alchemy) There are two great spots for farming Firefin. The first one is in the Stonetalon Mountains in the oil spills running in the river through the Windshear Crag. The second is in the Barrens at the boarder of Dustwallow Marsh. Keep an eye out for wandering Murlocks. The fishing level for this area is 50 and Firefin, Blackmouth, and Floating wreckage give Iron Chests fairly often with loot gear up to level 35.

[Average Price: 2.8 GP Per Unit]

-Oily Blackmouth
Needed for Blackmouth Oil (Alchemy). Some easy spots are along the Piers of Rachet and Auberdine, but the are not the most ideal farming spots. Your best bet is running up and down the coasts of Ashenvale to Auberdine. You can find an average of 5+ schools along this path and next to nobody farms this area, so the nodes are untouched.

[Average Price2.9 GP Per Unit]

-Lightning Eel
Needed for Stormchops (Cooking) and the Craftsman’s Writ (Argent Dawn Rep Quest). The highest drop rate for this fish is located in Zul’Farrak (11%). There is only one pool of water there, so it is easy to find. However, the drop rates increase dramatically during certain times of the day. The best time to fish, is between noon and 6PM (1200 to 1800) server time.

[Average Price: 1.8 GP Per Unit]

-Plated Armorfish
Needed for Craftsman’s Writ (Argent Dawn Rep Quest). Scholomance has the greatest drop rate, but this is yet another fish that has better rates at certain times of the day. Actually, make that night time between Midnight and 6AM server time. If you are farming for Rep, as well, then you couldn’t find a better spot. However, if you find that attaining access to Scholomance is a bit much for you, you can fish in Eastern Plaugelands, as shown in the map below.

[Average Price: 1.2 GP Per Unit]

-Barbed Gill Trout
Needed for Blackened Trout and Stewed Trout (Cooking). Mostly fished for hunter pets (they love this fish), the fish can also be sold for the cookers. The highest rate can be found within the Coilfang Reservior: The Underbog, but if you don’t want all that hassle of fighting for your meal (since you can fly now), then check out the Umbrafen Lake in Zangarmarsh.

[Average Price 4.7 GP Per Unit]

-Bloodfin Catfish
Needed for Broiled Bloodfin (Cooking). Not much call for this fish, but if you are REALLY in the need for it, you can find them in the waters outside of Karazhan in southern Deadwind Pass. On the plus side, Bloodfins do sell high, if not often.

[Average Price: 6.6 GP Per Unit]

-Crescent-Tail Skullfish
Needed for Skullfish Soup (Cooking). Same as the above (Bloodfin Catfish). They apparently swim in the same waters. Nice way to pass the time while waiting for your group to get together, farming for two different fish in the same area.

[Average Price: 4.7 GP Per Unit]

-Stonescale Eel
Needed for Stonescale Oil (Alchemy). Another fish that is best caught during certain times of the day. Drop rate increase from Midnight to Noon server time. While the Bay of Storms in Azshara may seems like the prime choice for farming, you’ll spend most of your time fending off local mobs. For a more safe spot, try off the coasts in Tanaris by Steamwheedle Port. If you are a Hordie, a more localized spot can be found in Revantusk Village Pier in the Hinterlands.

[Average Price 2.8 GP Per Unit]

-Deviate Fish
Needed for Savory Deviate Delight (Cooking) and Elixir of Giant Growth (Alchemy). The highest rate is inside the Wailing Caverns in the Barrens. If you fish near Naralex the Dreamer, then no mobs will bother you. Outside the instance try the Forgotten Pools (Barrens 44.0, 22.0) where the drop rates are pretty high and the mobs are of the lower levels of the Barrens in packs of 3 or less.

[Average Price: 3.5 GP Per Unit]

-Pygmy Suckerfish
Needed for Pygmy Oil (Alchemy). This is a favorite catch for most high level Alchemists. Best bets are to try to catch them in open water along the Borean Tundra (Borean Man O’ War Schools) and the Howling Fjord (Imperial Manta Ray Schools). Costal farming give you more area to cover for fresh nodes and less mobs respawning on you. In fact, some prime farming can be found off the coasts of Vengeance Landing in the Howling Fjord (stay near the crabs).

[Average Price: 1.1 GP Per Unit]

-Glassfin Minnow
Needed for Ethereal Oil (Alchemy). Another Alchemist favorite and another two for one watering hole. Decrepit Flow in Crystalsong Forest (18.0, 15.0) have a drop rate of about 55%, and is also a great spot for the Pygmy Suckerfish from above.

[Average Price: 1.8 GP Per Unit]

Hey Everyone,

This is Daknit. I wanted to blog this up for those that might have missed this on the fourms. I’ve added a few things (nothing too noticeable). I’m working on finalizing a couple projects to help with your farming experiences. I hope this helps as well.

Until next time….

The Mule Class Guide

You may not know it, but you need one. You might already have one. If you are reading this on a site under the lure of fast leveling up, then you definitely need one.

A Mule is an Alt that sits by the bank/mailbox and receives packages from your Main to store and/or sell. He is the most under-appreciated and overworked of all your alts. He saves your playing time of the main character by doing the things you would normally do with your Main, like bartering on the AH. He is your inside man in town.

First. Choose a race and character that you will like to play much, much later on. Level him up to at least 10 (optional)*. Set him up in some city where the AH and the Bank are close (Ironforge comes to mind).

You are going to need 6 bags. The cheapest sell for 4.75 SP each. Four bags go on the Mule. Two bags go in the bank. Now you got room to start.

[Note: Don't have the capital to buy the bags or the bank tabs? That's fine. Sit and wait for your Main to supply you. The two characters must work together now.]

Any addons that help with Mail, tracking recipe lists, and working with the AH is going to help alot. Be sure to have those installed and familiarize yourself with them before you start accepting packages from your Main.

What to mail to the Mule

–Don’t mail gray items. Those your Main can sell for himself.
–White items that your Main can’t use.
–Trade goods that you will need later on.

The Main must make a drop every time he goes to town. The more room you clear the more stuff you can bring back from the fields; the more money you make.

The Mule has to set up shop according to your Main. As your Main levels up, his bags get bigger and the skills he needs to learn get more expensive. The Mule has to be prepared for the Main for each section of levels the Main advances.

Apprentice Mule

Much of the low white items may not sell well in price in the AH, but it will quickly add up. The first goal of the Main is to get to level 20 and get a mount. The Mounts will cost 4 GP for training and 1GP for the mount itself. That’s 5 gold you’ll need before the Main hit level 20. (If you are a warlock, pally, or druid, then you won’t have to worry about this as much. You’ll have/be your own class mount) Try to save 5GP on the side, but the rest of the money goes back to the Main.

At level 40, you Main will be able to upgrade his mount. It will cost 40GP to train and 10GP for the mount. At level 60, it will cost 250 GP (or less) to train for a flying mount and 50 GP. These are the numbers that you need to save for. As soon as you are ready for Northrend, you’ll need the near 5,000 GP to train to artisan flying, much less the 1,000 for Cold Weather flying training. Be sure to have mastered the AH to save up for this.

Journeyman Mule

Firstly, the more time you spend away from the Mule, the bigger his bags will need to be. Some items might need to be saved to be sold later or used by your Main at a different time. This may call for more bank space. Buy tabs as you need them. If your Main is a tailor, have him make bags for the Mule. If not, it will be the mission of the Mule to supply bags for both Main and himself.

The Mule is the town runner that collects supplies for your Main’s professions (thread, flux, what have you). This way, the Main will not have to come back to the city to make those on the spot items. Remember, the point of the mule is to save play time for your Main.

As a bonus, your Mule will need to know your profession path and set aside money to buy items that will be needed later on. (For example, Medium leather will be needed by the Engineer to make Bronze Frames)

Expert Mule

The expert Mule is one that acts as a hub for more than 1 character. You can bribe a few people to create a guild for a few gold. Once you have ten signatures, you’ll have guild. Kick these people out once it is set up. This may seem dastardly, but don’t worry; many people already understand their role in your guild. Just think of it as a quest. Your Mule should never be part of a main guild. We start a guild only to get the guild bank and it’s tabs.

With multi Toons to worry about, you’ll need the space to organize trade needs, stock pile in mass highly profitable items, and form an armory. The armory will be used to twink up lower level Toons. Enchanters will also use this armory to create a stock pile of dust, gems, shards, and essences.

Ex-Mule

At any time, you may not want this Toon to be your Mule. You can setup another mule and transfer funds and items over.

This is an excellent idea for maxed out toons who’s soul purpose is to craft goods for the AH for profit. Usually, Mules are low level because high levels are not really needed to run the AH and make a profit. Having a crafter in town as a Mule opens up new avenues to make money. If you are going to do this, then be sure the toon is maxed out in skills so there is no limitations to what you can do with your profession. (If you need to know how to do this, read the Professions link in the Members Area.)

Remember, the Mule has been sitting in a city for quite some time. That double Exp might just last you a very long time.**

—————————————-

*And yes, level 10 is optional. It is a good goal if you are first setting up camp on a server and you have no other toons yet. Level 10 takes less than an hour to reach, and by the time you reach that level, you have a enough money and supplies to get bags for your Main and start a small resale business going while your Main is in the field gathering items to sell. While it is not necessary, especially if you have more than one toon already, it is a great start up for beginners.

**Level 80? Results will vary.
